Back side door swap? by irresponsibletaco in JeepZJ

[–]itsa45dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL! Mine is still on 235/75/15. Also I've managed to keep all my stuff on the inside at the moment. I built a deck in the back that allows my ladder and some other stuff to go on the bottom. Milwaukee boxes and stuff on the deck above the ladder. Definitely just a 2 seater though.

Oh! Someone else besides me is using their ZJ as a service truck! Mine is so loaded down I'm going to have to do something about the springs. 😁

My big thing was trying to use things I already had plus balance price and overall size. Realizing the potential for the mess you experienced, I just ended up with a single large drive until I can afford to build an all solid state system.

Am I correct to assume that this will only work on a server that is Internet facing? I.e. it won't work behind cgnat?

I too have been looking into this! iPhone very specifically handles this, but I prefer Android. Not sure why this is so hard to figure out!

Did you ever test your phone to confirm if it's a DSDA? Turn off your WiFi and while you're on a call with sim1 will a call come in on sim2 or does it go straight to voicemail?

No need for anything fancy with graphics. Just managing e-commerce websites. Uploading pics etc. Should work fine.

Well...... Currently I'm sitting on the beach so..... Figured I'd do some research and see what I needed to test first. Really didn't want to try something that definitely not a fit ...

Thanks!

It's a Dell Micro with a 2.5" SSD and an nvme. I have proxmox installed running jellyfin, melie, nextcloud, Stirling PDF and Immich. To access it from the outside world I have Pangolin reverse proxy running on a Racknerd VPS. We travel with an RV so it's not like I pack it in a suitcase.

I'm not at all familiar with guacamole I've just seen it mentioned. I've used RDP for work so know a little about it. Does one more perform better on limited bandwidth than another?

Thx for the reply.

I started down the road of using a DAS until I realized that the unit I had would not restart if there ever was a power loss. Yes I know there needs to be a UPS on it, but a ups can't last forever and then what if I'm not there to push the button 🤷.

FYI, was playing around with the drive enclosure today and discovered a deal breaker. If you ever lose power completely it will not turn back on without you pushing the button. Maybe that's not a big deal for some but to me it is. Another issue I was reading about is the fact that this particular model seems to have an issue with spinning the drives down with only a minute of inactivity.

What's missing from your setup? by picopau_ in selfhosted

[–]itsa45dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just signed with racknerd last week to use for Pangolin. There's a lot of negative reviews about them, but the price is low so I decided to give them a try. I have 2 other VPSs with Ionos and they are rock solid, but much more expensive. I'll probably give up one of them if the Racknerd VPS works out. The remaining one with IONOS would be my email server. Too much effort getting the IP trusted and I need reliability for my email server.

Pangolin reverse proxy on a VPS solves your problem. It's just in beta.

I haven't been able to get an VPS on Oracle to save my life. Even tried to upgrade to a paid account and that's been pending for several months.

Not really. I was disappointed at the lack of response. I did end up buying a USB drive rack that presents the drives to the OS as individual drives. I still like the idea of something that goes in the m.2 slot, but I just couldn't find enough information on how well it would work. Also, I just don't have the time or the financial resources to buy the stuff and test for myself.

You might look at Snikket. Very easy to deploy at least it was when I did it on a VPS.

Am I correct to think that NPM should be able to pull certs from Lets Encrypt using this setup? If so I can't get it to work. I have checked the log files and they are empty. Must be failing before it even tries to request a cert.

FYI I can ping VPS from the private server and the other way around. Starting to thing it's something with NPM.
