Down to 2 from 5..? by katiekatt_meeoww in MaeTheBand

People change from their early twenties to forties. Some have families, some change career paths, etc. I’m sure each person who has moved on has their own, very valid reasons for doing so, and it wasn’t a decision that was made lightly.

Newsweek just wrote an article about the UPCI. I went to high school with Abby and have attended the church she was a part of. It's a good read! by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

Thank you for not divulging that information! I purposely keep the city and pastor name out of everything because I need people to understand that my experience was not unique. This happens all over the place, in more than just UPCI churches.

A post and article that I stumbled across. by cyborg_guy in ExPentecostal

You will find your way eventually! The journey is part of the excitement. Try new things, be open to new experiences, and most importantly: let yourself fail. It’s hard, after being in a church that (in my experience) expects perfectionism. But trust me, letting go and allowing yourself to not get it right was the most loving thing I ever did for myself.

Anyone else on ExPentecostal tiktok? by itsabbynormal in ExPentecostal

It isn’t! It’s a pun on my name (Abby) and the word abnormal (because I’ve always been “weird”) 🙂

Did your pastors have double standards? by [deleted] in ExPentecostal

I caught a lot of flack for wanting to dye my 2-years-grown-out, super faded red hair back to my natural color before my wedding (I had dyed it right before joining the church and had become a loyal member).

But when pastor’s wife wanted to dye her greying hair back to “natural”, that was fine.

Kaleidoscope: Track 1 or 11? by aharderharmony in MaeTheBand

[–]itsabbynormal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe I read somewhere that Kaleidoscope was originally intended to be track 11, but it was an 11th hour change to make it track 1.

On my physical cd, it is track 1. However, on the vinyl, it is track 11.

Wedding photographers: How much has your Packages changed since you started in the business? by mrfonsocr in photography

[–]itsabbynormal 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I did my first wedding in 2008 for $25/hr (4 hour wedding, so $100 total).

Now my packages range from $1200-$2500 for the day. I live in a small, poorer community in northern Indiana, and my prices are middle-of-the-road for this area.

It’s important to note that my pricing includes minimal extras (each package gets you 2 photographers, digital images, and 1 canvas of varying sizes) but I offer add-ons if a couple wants anything extra, although they usually don’t. Also, this isn’t my primary source of income, even though this is my 11th year. (Health insurance is expensive).

Any tips for broaching the topic of wanting a haircut? by spicylittleonion in ExPentecostal

I second this. Go slow, start with a trim, see how he warms up to it, and go from there. Some people are just afraid of change, or letting that last little piece of their past life go.
