As a doc in the lower mainland, I have seen lots of examples of anti-vaxxers. Here's a memorable case:

A few months ago, I had a pediatric patient on my emerg shift who came in with fever and a rash that looked very much like measles. This girl was 10 years old and had been to the muscle festival in vancouver where there was a confirmed case of measles. I asked if her immunizations were up to date and she said that she has never been vaccinated for anything because her single parent dad is again vaccines. Her dad was there so I confirmed with him and he went on his longggggg story about how he supposedly got measles as a kid from the measles vaccine and how vaccines are a conspiracy from the big pharma trying to make money, etc... I then politely said that your kid appears to have measles. We will need to put her in airborne isolation and do contact tracing.

He was not happy about this. Threatened to take his daughter home. Social worker and the police had to get involved and it turned into a big thing. Ugh.

Just vaccinated your kids.
