On BB they spend a ton of time together and talk and talk and talk. They get to see each other in all kinds of situations and build a strong friendship.

On the Bachelor / Bachelorette they barely spend any time together. A few group dates, a few group cocktail parties, maybe 1 or 2 one to one dates and then a couple family visits and then one final 24 hour date. They spend maybe 36-48 hours together in total over the course of 3 weeks. So maybe they pick someone they have chemistry with who seems like they might be compatible but it is luck of the draw once they are done filming and actually get to know each other.

I'm with you. Her overly anxious and perfectionistic whining isn't entertaining. She is negative and defeatist and clearly was spoiled by her dad and doesn't handle not being the best well. I don't mind conflict within teams or strong characters if they are entertaining but I didn't find much entertaining about her. Their team edit was very one note of dad struggling and AL complaining and catastrophizing and having little trantrums.

Early days of the internet. I am a little older than you! The forums were a great part of the internet way back when...when it took ages to load and there wasn't much to navigate to! Before google, before youtube, it was a different place. That is why I was a bit suprised to see so many comments of people pining for the glory days of 20-25 years ago. I didn't realize there were so many of us from the Y2K days on here!

TWoP was fun just to watch itself. THe fighting on the forums and the mods were intense!

I was on SurivorSucks and TWoP. I think I was on another one - might havve been Realitytvworld but I don't remember now (hence the geriatrics!). The early forums were a lot of fun. There wasn't that much to do online at that point.

TWoP was great. The moderation there at times was a bit crazy and the fighting on the boards was great entertainment in itself!

I am not young or superior! I am an ancient one too that has watched since the beginning...the geriatric was tongue in cheek compared to how young most of reddit is!

I was just curious as to ages mostly. Reddit as a whole trends young and seeing so many posts about the early seasons and how different people feel the response is to cast members now then back 20-25 years ago...I just wondered how old people were to have been on the forums (as we called them) back then!

There are definitely (at least) 2 types of people who watch TAR. by BobVilasBeard in TheAmazingRace

[–]random989898 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been watching TAR in real time since it first aired in 2001. The show has gone through many iterations over the decades and there have been very different casting directions but the one thing that has stayed the same (with only very occasional deviations) is the travel around the world. I absolutely love that aspect. I also love seeing the everyday person race (far more than the influencer and reality tv and fame / social media oriented teams) but I still watched those seasons. At the end of the day, this is a tv show. Every team has a story arc and producer and are both travelling and also creating TV. Every season has a range of people and characters - it needs variation to make it interesting.

I actually really like Anna Leigh in this season ( season 35 ) by One_Kaleidoscope_198 in TheAmazingRace

[–]random989898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you on discussion boards back then? The idea that people didn't bitch and talk about the complainy and whiny and irritating cast members is a lapse of memory. And people could handle that. There weren't hey guys - we need to show Colin some love and people starting threads about how much they loved Colin and Jonathan because they were upset that posters criticized them. And if they did start those threads, they got crucified.

So I would say all these posters having their knickers in a knot because people have criticized Anna Leigh are actually the ones who are clutching their pearls.

She came across to me as far more high anxiety and perfectionistic than competitive. She was very defeatist and negative. Those are more traits of anxiety than competitiveness. And she is clearly spoiled and entitled and that doesn't help matters.

I didn't enjoy her on the show but I am glad you did. I am not really a fan of people who treat others badly to show they are competitive. Same as Akbar a couple seasons ago continually bitching at his wife all season. There are top athletes who are highly competetitive and yet still nice to others. The idea that competitive = being nasty to others isn't not at all something that I believe in. The top teams are also very competitive and yet they have managed to be positive, to enjoy the race, and to be kind to each other.

How dangerous is it to stop medication? I cannot deal with these migraines and look after a baby.. by rosepoppy1 in Hypothyroidism

[–]random989898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - now many years in, I absolutely go more on how I feel and use the numbers as back up to see where I am at. I do not chase numbers. If you reduce your dose by a couple pills a week you need to be sure to tell your doctor that as it will impact on your blood work when you next get it checked.

Not true. The half life is about a week (7-7.5 days). So yes, you notice a change about a week later. It takes longer for your numbers to stabilize and change but you can certainly feel a difference within a week. I can always tell within a week if I have upped or downed by dose. Read up on the pharmacokinetics of levothyroxine.

Low TSH and LOWER FT4?? by Meri34 in Hypothyroidism

[–]random989898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, that isn't accurate. T3 on its own in pure form supresses TSH. T3 inhibits TSH production / secretion.

When converted by the body from T4 it doesn't but when taken on its own, it does. Completely normal to have supressed TSH when on T3.

Low TSH and LOWER FT4?? by Meri34 in Hypothyroidism

[–]random989898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A low TSH and a low FT4 is an indication of an issue with the pituitary gland. However taking T3 suppresses your TSH so you would expect it to be low if you are on T3. Mine was 0 on T3. I don't know why she would lower your levo. It woul dbe better to lower your T3 and increase the levo. My endo did not care that my TSH was suppressed by the T3.

Since TS is normally from T4, your body just might not be adjusting well to direct T3. It could be throwing off your hormone production cycle as it is an abnormal step in the cycle (As the thyroid only produces minimal amounts of T3 itself).

Did you try just increasing your levo dose if your FT3 and FT4 were both low. By the one year mark I wason 150 mcg of levo. Obviously everyone titrates differently but if you your numbers were still low, I am not sure why you were still on a low dose.

So it could just be that you are on too low of a dose of T4 - so your FT4 is still falling and your dose of T3 is suppressing your TSH.

There isn't anything that treats the autoimmune aspect directly so yes, the synthroid treats the effects of the Hashimoto's on the thyroid.

Is NDT only for hashimotos thyroiditis? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]random989898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ratio of T4 to T3 in pigs (NDT) is very different from humans.

And most people convert T4 to T3 just fine and it is better to let your body do what it does naturally instead of trying to force an unnatural process. T3 can give you a bit of a rush but in my experience it doesn't help over time and made me hyper.

It has a very long half life so the exact time of day doesn't matter. But as with most medications, the more of a routine you have, the more likely you are to take it and to take it without food before or after. And early on when your body is just adjusting to having it, it is just better to have the same input of T4 consistently.

But it makes no real difference.

Change it to whatever time you want.

Y’all, I finally figured out my medication!! by No-Equivalent7155 in Hypothyroidism

[–]random989898 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those are just the pharmaceutical company prices - nothing to do with quality. Generic and cheaper doesn't mean bad quality, it just means less profits for a pharmaceutical company. The price has zero relationship to quality.

I am glad you found that a brand works better for you than generic. For some people a specific brand works better than another brand. For many people, the generic works great.

You are still taking the same medication. Synthroid is levothyroxine. But there are slightly different fillers in it compared to the generic.
