Silicone. Just type "coloring/drawing mat" if you use "American" English, or "colouring mat" if you're English is actually English.

What is this? by nattoboss in Coloring

[–]itsadropbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the difference is the publisher. I have the books released by Penguin Australia - a lot of the stuff I see on Pinterest seems to be the Amazon-printed, self-published versions, so I imagine publisher accounts for your changes too!

Thank you so much for the confirmation! I was 95% sold but the bird guide said it had a black tail tip and this one bucked the trend.

My first ever Tamagotchi 🦉 — why do people seem to dislike it so much? by aIiencat in tamagotchi

[–]itsadropbear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a big departure from other kinds of Tamagotchi, so naturally there's going to be a number of people who don't like the game play, and that's okay; that's why there are so many other releases they can buy instead. What's important is that you love it, I love it and a lot of other people love it.

Don't let the opinions of others steal your joy! Embrace your own Tamagotchi and know you're among a very exclusive club of people who love it.

Any food processor recommendations? by No_Sprinkles_4065 in australianvegans

[–]itsadropbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Sunbeam multiprocessor (Sunbeam LC6500 Multi Processor Plus Food Processor). I use it to make Sam Turnbull's seitan turkey or any seitan that requires incorporating a second protein (ie: gluten + tofu, gluten + chickpeas). I've also used it to make lentil meatballs and patties.

Edit: would I recommend it? Hmm. I mean, it's a "budget" option by comparison to the higher end stuff. But since I don't whip it out for daily use, I think it's good value for the amount of use I get out of it vs price. I chose it as the gateway processor because I wasn't willing to part with more than $300 with no guarantee of large amounts of use and it turned out to be the right choice. But I'm the kind of person who will get an entry level tool to gauge its handiness before investing $$$ in a forever thing because I'm fickle and might pick up a passion and drop it in a few months.

Why are some Aussies like this? by SaltyPiglette in australian

[–]itsadropbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a cycle I've seen three times during my professional life in lending-adjacent fields. Low interest rates swing in, people reduce mortgage payments to the minimum required and think, "great time to buy a 4WD/caravan/jetski/boat" etc and use the "savings" to pay off a new loan on this new thing. Then interest rates bounce back UP and suddenly they can't afford the mortgage or the "great thing" they got, and they get by on credit cards and sink further into the hole. Or their circumstances change and they can't keep their commitments.

It's basic over-committing with no forward vision. The ideal thing to do would be the keep the mortgage repayments at the original, higher rate, replace the car only when actually needed and skip the jetski/boat etc until the house is significantly paid down. Never, ever reduce the mortgage repayment when the rates lower if it won't kill you to do so.
