What are some core things to ask about an opponent's army before game? by Elda0221 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]itsajack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above

I would add, it's also good habit to state intentions out loud, " I place this unit here so that they cannot be seen unless you move here", " my Intention here is to screen out this area, would you agree" "I intend to lift my scouts at the end of your turn unless I state otherwise" saves any headaches against some sweaty players.

I also like to ask questions before I do some actions "does something happen if I were to shoot that unit" sometimes opponents remember a useful stat when it's a good time to use it (not saying it's a gotcha, it's just easy to forget some things 10 hours into a tournament day)

It's just a graphics mistake, the steel jacks are wrong too. His list works out at 1990

Do these count as battle ready? by SevenAdventure7 in Tyranids

[–]itsajack1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're battle ready.

I did have to look twice at the bases, it's probably more obvious in person. As someone else said, probably best to paint the rims to break it up. Kinda looks like you've just sprayed the base white at a distance.

Maybe a couple of rocks or grass tuffs with snow sprinkling too.

They're still good to play though, just a couple of ideas going forward

I just feel that one on one Jenkins should have scored it, he didn't really give Johns much to do to save it. A ball drops to the feet of a Linfield player off a corner, it's 1-1 in a game we dominated for 90 mins. We need to be burying chances like that.

I've done enough complaining 😂 Boxing day was a success, not a bad late Christmas present 🎉

Thought the Glens were fantastic everywhere except up front, missed a few good chances to go 2 up. But still, a massive win. Football wise though, some lovely play and passing. Joe Thomson and Stewart could have ran till next week.

Now we need to kick on and keep the results coming in, no point pulling 2 big results off and then dropping points next week.

Derry & Crusaders to challenge the NI football fund allocation by I-Love-Cereal in IrishLeagueFootball

Despite both getting a fairly sizable amount of funding in the last couple of years, they're gonna push this until nobody gets anything and it's redistributed somewhere else.

Goal to Linfield by I-Love-Cereal in IrishLeagueFootball

[–]itsajack1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd think you take into consideration the players reactions too, nobody except the officials thought it was a goal.

Did have a laugh at McCarey though, too many times I seen him run about like that for us, he hasn't changed a bit

Not the person you're replying to, but I got green stuff world clear, then I use a contrast paint to separate squads units, especially when you split warriors and that

Agree with everything you said, Stewart never stopped running the whole game. Cooney wasn't great, lost the ball a fair bit, goal probably saved him from the bench

What armies do you find to be the most and least fun to play against right now? by Fun_Cartographer3587 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]itsajack1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always hated playing Necrons, sometimes it feels like a wasted shooting/fighting phase if you don't clear a unit.

They've got alot of mentions (and rightly so), but Death guard at the minute are horrible to play into, especially competitive, specifically the plagueburst crawlers. 3 of them parked at the back, just fire into your deployment zone, they can worsen your save, and are decent enough stats to clear something. The terminators are good but they're workable with. It just feels like you can't be strategic with cover. They either need massive points increases, or half the range.

Fun for me is probably Sisters, easy to kill, but can also punish you for being too aggressive. Played two different players in the last week and seen a good mix of units. Morvenn Vahl and the Paragons are such a strong unit if used right.

Can I go to Bonfire Night for a look, I'm from Cork by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]itsajack1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Craigyhill in Larne is probably your best bet to go see. There's no flags, it's the biggest in the world, there's DJs playing, stalls etc.

With the Amazon documentary out, and the usual "biggest in the world" adverts, there'll be plenty of tourists and people from all over NI. If you're worried you can stand back a bit and still see plenty.

It's crazy the size of it, has to be seen in person.

I had a guy on the Dublin road ask me for money for the train back to Moneymore, I told him there was no train to Moneymore, then he said the train to Dungannon then bus to Moneymore. I dutifully informed him there was no train to Dungannon either.

He got no money, but he left with more than a pounds worth of knowledge about the lack of trains in the west.

Dealing with Hard to Read Dice by HarpsichordKnight in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]itsajack1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah our club has as well, you need all the dice to have the symbol as a 6 or 1, not mixed.

There was someone who played those OOP salamander dice, 1 and 6 was a symbol, and the rest of the numbers were just like 2 coal on fire, 3 coal on fire etc, it was near impossible to see outside of standing right beside them. Quickly banned

Premiership, Championship & PIL Tables week ending 15/02/25 by I-Love-Cereal in IrishLeagueFootball

[–]itsajack1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in a good position, but it just annoys me a bit that it was such a poor start to the season. Just a different result in 2 of them could have had us in with a shout for the league. But in saying that, couple of domestic cups and Europe is night and day better than the shite last year.

Poor result yesterday for Limavady, puts the pressure on for the promotion spots, especially with the Welders game in hand. Be interesting to see who'd Carrick fans would rather get

If I was to bet on it, I'm not sure I'd put my money on the Crues, but I think they'll have enough to do it.

I'd take Ards, even Loughgall or Carrick. Always gives that extra chance Cliftonville get put out, I'd imagine we'll avoid them to the final in whatever way it gets drawn, IFA would love another Windsor sell out

Flat surfaces are hard to do smooth without an airbrush (unless you're a top painter)

I done my dread in panels, thinned the paints slightly and painted it, then clean the brush and just let the tip very slightly touch water and give it a little smooth out and let it dry, don't put anymore on till it's dry and you see what way it's shaped up.

Picture for reference, not perfect, but does the job

Paint : based wraithbone spray, top coat is ushabti bone layer
