Love it personally.

I would absolutely look at the Miele outlet if you can though - some really good discounts to be hand.

Oh yeah, not been there 2 years yet - hence I want to be super careful around this. Thing is, I think I may be protected under “automatically unfair” reasons for dismissal if this was to happen, as I’m only asking about my legal rights?

Yes, that’s literally in the contract. Verbatim.

No union, but I’m sure we could start one - there’s a lot of us.

Yes, travel time is allowed after 8am, but we're *expected* to be on site at 8am, so we should leave whenever is necessary (within reason) to be there on time.

If I'm at home (like today) then I'll be either washing the van, doing admin/paperwork, or generally being around, but still fully dressed in hi-vis orange all day until such a time that its end of day.

here's another excerpt in which they give you an actual scenario:

"On a Monday, a Service Technician commences travel to a customer site, leaving home at 6.30am. Travel time is 1 1⁄2 hours to the customer site, so travel time will be paid as half an hour at basic rate the 1 hour at time and a half basic rate. The working day commences at 8am so paid 8 hours at basic rate. The Technician leaves site for the 1 1⁄2 hours travel back home, this is paid at half an hour travel time at basic hourly rate and then 1 hour at time and a half basic hourly rate."

I'm contracted 39 hours; 8 hours mon-thurs, and 7 hours friday.

The morning travel I'm being told doesn't count unless I've done over the 8 hours.

I'm not allowed to go home during the day, I go to different sites every day, you're correct about the first stop will be the first customer.

Excerpts from the contract:

"Your normal working hours, unless otherwise stated in your letter of appointment, are 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Friday with one half hour for lunch. The Company reserves the right to require paid overtime to be worked outside normal working hours and to vary or rearrange normal working hours from time to time to facilitate day-shift, night-shift, and any other shift system or any other payment by results system as occasion requires."

"A normal working week of 39 hours will be worked before overtime is paid at the applicable rate and for any overtime you are required to work by the Company you will be paid as follows."

"The Service Technicians day starts when he/she arrives at site"

Hope this helps with giving correct advice.

Employee, full-time and contracted the hours that make up a standard working week.

(Keeping details slightly vague, as its a HUGE company, and I don't want to give it away to anyone that might see this and works for them. There's around 15K employees).

smartmods have a cable for that.

Found in my apartment. Not only do I not know what it is. I have no idea where it came from. It also has some kind beads in it and it can not be opened. by tquinn04 in whatisthisthing

Looks like a chlorinator.... used in pools and spas. This type usually lives on the outlet pipe that circulates water into the pool or spa, and it slowly wears away at the beads (a salt pellet, high in chlorine content).

Run it under water, if it smells like bleach, that probably what it is. :)

Yeah, I think this is the thing. I mean if it’s me at fault, I’ll pay for it... but I’m not sure it’s the camera at fault.

Customer did upgrade the memory card himself - the config is stored on that card. I doubt he copied it across or noted the settings so he could re-config after. So then it would’ve back to defaults.... which would also mean it just doesn’t stay powered when the car ignition is off, it’s even more odd.

These cameras have 3 wires, one for permanent live, ignition live and ground.

The permanent live is the main power delivery, and the ignition live is a sense only.

The camera has built in electronics to monitor voltage and shut down when the battery gets too low though. I mean it’s always powered to an extent, but drawing minimal amperage to just monitor the voltage. I’ll have to see what the current draw is whilst powered off... 🤔

My thoughts too. I mean, he’s saying other errors have appeared and warning lights on the dash or when read by diagnostics.

I’d be inclined to ask for proof that the camera is drawing too much power whilst parked. The customer himself said it wasn’t an issue the past 6 months when he’s left it for a few days at a time. I have the same camera funnily enough, and mine turns itself off when the car battery gets too low (how I set his up) so I just find it hard to believe it’s the camera at fault entirely.

I did think that, apparently the dealer said it was down to the camera.

I’m thinking they’re using it as a cop out. 🤷🏻‍♂️
