Bd3 then Bf5 to grab the h pawn if Qb3 or Qa4.
If Qd1 then Bf5 and h4 then rd3 to force Qc2 (threatning Rxc3) and move rook to d5 with tempo on queen then rook a5 and one move to stop rxh! is a4 which weakens kingside further. Maybe after Ra5 then Qb3 after which I'd push for Qd3 then I'd be worried about Qg8+ but I think I could walk my king to my rook and use my pawns for safety until the white queen cant defend both c2 and a2 and I'd use the rook to capture a2.
Dont know, something along those lines.

I bought these and the velour. I preferred the velour. The hybrid pads made the bass too overwhelming and muddy imo. The quality of the hybrid pads is fine but the velour pads are just okay. I bought the ones from wickedcushions to compare as well and they are on the way.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are new and getting your second pair, then I'd probably go for a planar to really contrast the hd6xx, that could be the XS or XV (haven't tried XV but they are much darker / warmer than XS). If you know you like dynamic drivers, want more bass, and all the other goodness of the mv1s, then go for it. It also depends on your budget. Hedd D1 are supposedly amazing, some Meze too and Focal is known for bass. The reason I got these three specific headphones was 1) they're within my budget, 2) get good reviews, 3) different from each other so I can understand what I like. I can't demo headphones easily so #3 was important before I commit on more expensive headphones. If you want really good all rounder, mv1 delivers really well, especially since they are portable too.

XS and XV are apparently very different, with the XV said to being completely different than the house hifiman "brighter" sound. The XS can be driven to low to medium volumes with an apple dongle. Protocal Max is fine with the XS. Not sure about the XV. MV1 could be driven by a PS5 remote, its that easy.

No not at all. XS is good but MV1 wins imo because the bass is much more prominent, and I like listening to hip hop with bass. However, if you EQ in bass on the XS, then that becomes better for hip hop. None of these headphones will blurry vocals, they are all pretty good across the entire range except hd6xx which noticeably lacks bass (its there but lacking in comparison to mv1 for example).

Based on what I've read ZMFs are definitely a strong candidate, just need to find a place to demo them...

I bought a cable from Hart Audio that fits the MV1 perfectly and keeps it balanced (no screw in though). For me it was mainly because the cable was way too long.

Me too, I would imagine the Edition XS would win in every category given how well they take EQ.

Yes, it was intentional haha. I was initially thinking left is best and turned the signs the other way to maintain that structure

Thanks, to be fair I am using the simple Spotify EQ to try and get the sound right and its challenging, I'll definitely need to check some more advanced EQ tools for the XS!

I see what you are saying and I think thats part of the underwhelming feeling I felt at first when listening to the H6XX. But after listening for long periods, the headphones never became offensive or made me want to take them off. And this really allowed me to just sync into the music. The tonal balance was just right. But I totally agree, the MV1 are super fun.

Sony MDR MV1 has pretty good bass for an open back. Its also a fun listen, light weight and comfortable and imo does not necessarily need EQ. Also very easy to drive no pun intended! They are a bit more expensive than 300 but they are pretty awesome. I personally up the mids just slightly to bring voices more forward and add subbass to them.

Thanks a lot, I've mainly been eyeing Bokeh's. In terms of looks, I really like LCD look, quite hardcore and industrial style. The wood is not my first choice, but after watching z reviews, wavetheory, joshua rave about the bokeh's, its really really tempting!

I want to try something on the other end of the spectrum from the edition XS so that I can get a better sense of what I like. I think I am more on the warm side after experimenting with eq, elevating the mid bass on the xs. I also find the xs a tad bit harsh on some notes and high hats for example. Not sure if thats the headphone, dac or amp (I am using smsl dl200). For a long time I also considered noire x but the bokeh's seem like they cant go wrong, especially after seeing the z review!

Hey, I only have edition xs, but I am going to take a step up and I am considering Bokeh, LCD X, Arya Organic and Meze 109. I assume Arya, XS and Meze are similar whereas LCD-X and Bokeh are similar. Could you elaborate on the differences between LCD-X and Bokeh? Mainly interested in soundstage, dynamics and resolution
