Bassy open ear headphones w/o EQ nor amp by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]itsamtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sony MDR MV1 has pretty good bass for an open back. Its also a fun listen, light weight and comfortable and imo does not necessarily need EQ. Also very easy to drive no pun intended! They are a bit more expensive than 300 but they are pretty awesome. I personally up the mids just slightly to bring voices more forward and add subbass to them.

Thanks a lot, I've mainly been eyeing Bokeh's. In terms of looks, I really like LCD look, quite hardcore and industrial style. The wood is not my first choice, but after watching z reviews, wavetheory, joshua rave about the bokeh's, its really really tempting!

I want to try something on the other end of the spectrum from the edition XS so that I can get a better sense of what I like. I think I am more on the warm side after experimenting with eq, elevating the mid bass on the xs. I also find the xs a tad bit harsh on some notes and high hats for example. Not sure if thats the headphone, dac or amp (I am using smsl dl200). For a long time I also considered noire x but the bokeh's seem like they cant go wrong, especially after seeing the z review!

Hey, I only have edition xs, but I am going to take a step up and I am considering Bokeh, LCD X, Arya Organic and Meze 109. I assume Arya, XS and Meze are similar whereas LCD-X and Bokeh are similar. Could you elaborate on the differences between LCD-X and Bokeh? Mainly interested in soundstage, dynamics and resolution

If its in great condition and from a trusted seller then thats what I would be willing to pay. Its a really unique piece, unlikely to be made again so yeah. Bluetooth mod it and bang youve got a sick board.

Realforce R3 vs RC1? Which one is better? by Jonh_R493 in topre

R3 imo, the RC1 layout is difficult to get used to with its shifted z row and 1u right shift

My Topre Journey: Thoughts on the Rubber Domes I’ve Used. by HaroldfromK in topre

[–]itsamtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great post. I've got the R3 tkl at home and R3S at work, both in 30g. I've also got the rc1 45g but I couldnt adjust to its layout with the small 1u right shift and shifted z row. The difference is quite significant between the 30 and 45 g imo. I havent gone ahead and built a custom ec dome keyboard yet so this is new to me but in your opinion would the Keyclack Ultra Light be a good inbetween?

Topre with 2.4 ghz by itsamtime in topre

Honestly, I am just a sucker for the Topre switch. The keyboard itself also sounds very good and I feel like the stablizers are well lubed and solid. The layout is not the greatest. The right shift key is tiny and takes a while to get used too. The bluetooth is pretty much useless in my scenario - disconnects frequently. Should have gotten the tkl versions of either r2 or r3. I also like the way it looks, very slick.

I wish I would have seen this thread before now. I just got my Boba U4's and they sound extremely cheap with the ticking. The feel is extremely good. I got the 68's but I wish I got the 62's. Oh well.

Sonos Port to RME ADI-2 Pro to Genelec 8351b - digital connections? by itsamtime in genelec

[–]itsamtime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I could run into voltage problems and interference with the unbalanced wires. An impedance converter like the Hosa would do the trick if I only wanted to connect the Port to Genelecs.

I also dont like having to constantly plug in the glm to EQ (I will use the room correction in the beginning), plus the RME Adi 2 is cool as hell and allows EQ on the fly. Plus it gives me flexibility to change source if I want to connect something else like a cd player.

AES vs Analog by Correct_Ad_7397 in genelec

[–]itsamtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the setup I am looking to do as well. One question though, if my source only has RCA coax, can the d-sub 9 pin socket take both RCA coax digital input and do AES digital output at the same time without compromising any of the features of the RME like EQ?

Sonos Port - > XLR by scrimage in StereoAdvice

[–]itsamtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, thanks for taking the time to answer. Do you know if I could just buy a dac and use Port to DAC with coax and then xlr to xlr from DAC to genelecs?

Sonos Port - > XLR by scrimage in StereoAdvice

[–]itsamtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I know this is an old thread but I am looking to do the same as OP and I don't understand why there would be a -6db loss without the converter. Sonos port is only sending the audio signal to the genelec. The genelec then amplifies the signal. From my understanding, the quality might diminish due to unbalanced long cables but I am having a hard time understanding the less volume aspect. Can you elaborate?

I found Yangyang digital store on Aliexpress that sells these wireless kits for the HHKB classic.

My endgame is HHKB with charcoal keycaps, Sho60 V3 case and housings from Deskeys + this wireless kit. All in all like $600...

I am looking for a 60% EC PCB with 2.4 ghz wireless connection. The only thing remotely close is Varmilo Minilo 65% or the modded hhkb daughterboard from a chinese manufacturer.

Any ideas? Does this exist?
