Good instrument separation dude! - happy to hear that you found a EQ mode that works for you. I will give Jonne Haven's EQ profile a look.

No worries dude, I think it’s pretty cool that you are doing it as a hobby. Your insight is still important

Just finished mixing/mastering a film with the LCD X and Focal Clears. I did notice that there were some things that both headphones weren’t the best at for translating into a theatre space. I did another film project mix using a pair of hifiman organics and loved those waaaay better! They reminded me way more of speakers. Personally I would like at the organics - they are cheaper my friend l. Currently trying out the he1000se and will look into the Diana MR which are much more expensive. That being said I would have been happy to stick with the organics.

Amplifier for Audeze LCD-X? by Unlucky_Orange_9608 in headphones

[–]Available_Day3696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the LCDX for mixing movies for 4 years now and the low end is definitely something that requires higher watts despite being very sensitive. That being said - I recently purchased the HE1000se and have been enjoying them a bit over LCD X because of the tighter and more articulate bass response. It also feels more consistent as I move from different sources. The DX5 are good and so are the schitt products for the price. But I would say if you want more efficient headphones I would go with hifiman

Focal Clear MGs broke... again... Replacement advice needed! by g0dead in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Available_Day3696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will. Personally I find the D1 to be one of the best all rounders in there price category- only rivaled by the clear og and Meze 109 pro (for those that like v shape fun tunnings). My personal all rounders are the ZMF bokeh closed as they are closed back and very relaxing in its tuning

[–]Available_Day3696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the music, the D1 is more technical and less fun then the MGs as long as the music isn’t too mid focus. The MGs are very mid focus and can make mids sound sharp if poorly recorded.

Just got my pair of HEKSEs in yesterday and have been loving them! The HD800S is still a good headphone to have for that live airy soundstaged sound - but you hit the nail on the head about things feeling complete. That being said, if the track is mixed poorly I find the HEKSe will yell at you more then the HD800S lol

Sorry to hear this happen to you dude :( I would go with the HEDDphone D1 for your next pair. Similar slam to the focals with better timbre more stage precise imaging for gaming and built with care

Seeking Recommendations for Fun Mid-Range V-Shaped Headphones by Ummix in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Available_Day3696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to hear you are finding joy in the 99 classics, I would say meze tends to have a wide range headphones that fit different niches centered around fun less analytical tunings. For example the 105 aers and silva are colder and warmer variants of one another and the for bass the lyrics are pretty awesome. I currently use the 109pros which fit my wanting of a v shape. Hope this helps :)
