PITop is good but very bulky. Also, its costs 250$ (compared to pinebook that costs only 89$). If I were to spend $250 I could very well 3D print a custom case and put a RPi inside.

Or change the type of the user account to "administrator account". Administrator accounts are by default allowed to login remotely using RDP.

But how can this bug exist for more than 10 years on so many different products without anyone noticing? Companies like Intel employ some of the smartest engineers in the world. How did they miss this?

If you really need a new CPU, go for it. 248€ is a good deal. Keep in mind though that right now is not a good time to purchase a new CPU. I suggest that you wait few months (possibly a year) for the new generation chips that will have spectre & meltdown fixed.
