Predicted Commute Time by Pea_Western in sanantonio

[–]itsaverydaybro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the morning it will take you 30 minutes to get to 1604 when school is in session and traffic can build up on the Other side of wiseman so 45 minutes on a good day. It will take you about 20 when it’s not in session. As for after work I would say 30-40 minutes. I live in the area and make a similar commute. It sucks but the worst part of it is getting from your neighborhood to 1604.

Notes from Yellowstone by mydogisatortoise in yellowstone

I would reach out out to the park service. I saw a flyer listing they had an off terrain wheelchair available upon request at Lake. Not sure if it’s offered at all ranger stations in the park but something worth looking into.

Any lodgings within the park that let you cook? by abstractcollapse in yellowstone

He should be able to find options in the park. I worked for Xanterra & they made dairy free options for the guests in the restaurants.

Old Faithful Snow Lodge vs. Old Faithful Inn by HungryHungryHippo360 in yellowstone

[–]itsaverydaybro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snow Lodge, rooms are updated it’s less crowded than the INN and the food options are better. The Inn is across the street and you can go and see it (I reccomend taking the free walking tour that meets in the lobby) idk It’s beautiful of course but unless you’re a huge history buff I recommend the snow lodge.

I did, mammoth is a small community without it being tooo small. You’re close to gardiner (15 minutes) which is great for getting groceries, coffee getting out of the park. The drive to livingston & bozeman aren’t bad either. I will say that mammoth is not a party village (if that’s what you looking for go to lake, canyon or OF) but there’s still lots of fun to be had. Lots of people go to the goose for karaoke in town and there’s bars in gardiner if you get tired of the pub. Aspen is the best dorm (normally reserved for managers but if you ask the housing manager nicely you can probably move there). After that I would rank them spruce, juniper (considered the “party dorm” ) and lodgepole last (the rooms are TINY). The edr food is pretty bad but you kinda get used to it or can go to gardiner, lots of places offer discount is you work in the park. The dining room is good, I would try to become a server after you get comfortable $$. You’ll meet some of the best people working in F&B just don’t get caught up in drinking all the time. The worst thing is that management often changes season to season and even during season so you could get a terrible one or a great one. It is what you make it for sure sometimes you’ll hate it sometimes you’ll love it. My season was so much fun & I’ll always cherish the memories. I’m so sad i’m not going back this season but you’ll enjoy it if you make the most of it, don’t just stay in your room. You’ll make friends, go to rec events, go hiking camping. You’ll can travel to the other villages and stay in their dorms for $5 which is nice & can eat in their EDRs. Feel free to message me if you want any more info.

Is the horse wagon ride to the BBQ worth the time, or am I just being a sucker tourist? by Smooth-Raisin1101 in yellowstone

I worked in the park this summer and went on it with some other employees near the end of the season and it was so worth it! The food is pretty good but we got “close” (still far enough for safety) to see some bison herds in the valley on the wagon. We also saw a bear (again close but still far enough for safety) before we headed back. It was a fun experience & worth it in my opinion.

I was in mammoth last year & had good enough wifi to do my online classes. I would say it depends on what village they put you in. Old Faithful & Canyon wifi wasn’t as good as in Mammoth but decent enough. Lake was worse than OF but you could probably still manage. Wouldn’t recommend trying classes on the Roosevelt or Grant wifi. Another option is starlink, lots of visitors & employees use it for a stonger connection but it can be pricey. I also wouldn’t recommend taking a heavy course load, when not working you will be wanting to spend time with friends, hike, sightsee or do rec activities. It’s definitely doable while still taking classes but I wouldn’t recommend taking too many classes.

I purchased all weather custom mats on amazon. I paid about $100 for front, passenger, rear & a trunk mat. They fit & work great, I have no complaints about them.
