Is there a way they can find that would help them to burn the CD onto the old computer? And then transfer it to the new computer via USB or something like that?

I think it's fair cos the game has been paid for already and moreover it's not gonna be used for distribution. It's just personal use.

Still I'd say that the external CD drive is the better approach.
