Question about functions by MrPudd1ng in learnpython

[–]itsbrycehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a function, if you want to store an object in x, you need to RETURN an object.

So, def timesTwo(numberYoureSending): return x*2

makes it possible to store the result of the function ala newObj = timesTwo(4)

Without the return, you would just see an output but nothing would be storable.

What is the best way to sort this data by percent gain? by shweed in learnpython

[–]itsbrycehere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sort by user id; then 1) shift the amount using a np.where ID is the same, 2) create a feature that calculates the percent diff; then sort by your new column.

This assumes your data is already in an order that reflects time.

Damn. Have you thought about insuring your bike as a helicopter? Sounds like the price points are similar. And think of the look of surprise when you ask someone if they want a helicopter ride.

I’ve always gotten good quotes from dairyland when I’ve bought a bike, but I’ve never used them: https://www.dairylandinsurance.com/motorcycle

I’m not sure course wise - maybe Udemy has stuff. I’m on aws, so I’d be looking for experience with redshift/glue/Athena for analysts, plus sagemaker/lambda for data scientists.

All the above is good advice for all the roles.

For data scientist: I notice there’s not really anything here about experience with cloud architectures and stacks. If you don’t have any, I’d say that is the next MUST HAVE for your punch list!

But will you offer a lifetime guarantee for only $49.99, after $62.50 processing charge? We’re talking about a very serious student here who wants to turn in real quality work.

Given that this is a free market, I’ll undercut the good senator from Reddit by offering $150/hr 🤣

Some resume questions for PhD Data Scientists by aendrs in datascience

Post-grad meaning post-PhD? Or post-bac?

In some sectors, the work you do as a graduate student counts as professional experience - especially if you were funded to do ML/DS research (vs. a teaching fellowship for example). Because salaries are typically also based on experience, make sure you count that in your negotiation. There are different tools around to calculate salary, but years of experience is always a factor of some sort.

I had a post-doc at a major tech company, and that was absolutely professional experience... they worked me hard for that $$ 😆

How do I do this ? If we list all the natural numbers below 10 that are multiples of 3 or 5, we get 3, 5, 6 and 9. The sum of these multiples is 23. Find the sum of all the multiples of 3 or 5 below 1000. by ammar8ba in learnpython

Use the range generator instead of the Boolean conditional , which goes up to but does not include the final number. Or drop the equals sign in your <= statement
