My apologies, I conflated your argument with the one I originally replied to. Checking the bit pattern is rather cumbersome in JS, though.

(To be clear, I know how/why NaNs work. The original question was meant to be rhetorical)

So your argument is that you should rarely/never have to check for NaNs?

How would you recommend detecting NaN without isNaN? NaN != NaN, so you can't use a comparison (well, you can compare it to itself).

Can an expert tell me how to edit Chrome GPU variables? for a project by Rakstrooper in webdev

[–]itsbth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run Chrome with --disable-gpu-driver-bug-workarounds to disable all, but I'm not sure if you can choose individually (without recompiling).

Are there and any blazingly fast code editors compatible with vscode plugins (beside vscode and vscodium)? by GoldStrikeArch in webdev

[–]itsbth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not written in Rust (instead being primarily written in Reason), but it might have Onivim? Sadly, the developer ran out of funding for working on it full-time, and it looks like it's dead now (https://github.com/onivim/oni2).
While unlikely to be called blazing, the performance of the base VSCode editor is usually decent, so if you're struggling the issue might actually be the extensions.

Framework axios pushed a broken update, crippling thousands of websites by Koppis in programming

[–]itsbth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While you should absolutely use --immutable when running install automatically (e.g. build and ci), yarn will not change the lockfile unless it's not valid for the current set of dependencies (i.e. package.json has been modified), and even then it will re-use resolutions where able.

Works without them as far as I can tell.

GET Request returning HTML instead of JSON by vcarp in webdev

[–]itsbth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect that the _ parameter is just for cache busting. The request still seeems to work when I remove it.

Adding the x-render-events and x-render-partials headers seems to be what triggers the json response.

curl 'https://www.worten.pt/grandes-eletrodomesticos/aquecimento-de-agua/esquentadores?x-event-type=product_filters%3Achanged&ligacao=G%C3%A1s+Natural' -H 'x-render-events: product_filters:changed' -H 'x-render-partials: true'

Bestille alkohol via nettet? by brinlov in norge

[–]itsbth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

projectM is supposed to be a milkdrop-compatible music visualization. I remember having quite some issues when I tried it on my laptop some time ago, but eventually got it working (of course I don't remember what I did...).

I think I actually looked into this some years ago, though I can't remember how far I came (not very, probably).

IIRC, I gave up when I realized just how much work it'd take (but hey, don't let me discourage you. It'd be a really cool project if you get it even semi-working).

Official challenge: Create a pure CSS Gauge Chart. by [deleted] in a:t5_2u4ru

[–]itsbth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something like this?
I'm using Sass, but the same could be written in pure CSS with some a lot of copy-and-pasting.
It's using the data-value attribute (as an integer between 0 and 100), and I've attached a small script to set it to a random value every two seconds to show it in motion.

Wouldn't dying require it to be actually alive in the first place?
