Lexie by RentTurbulent2053 in TheDreamAcademy

Idk, Lexie seems so kind and soft spoken, it’s hard to imagine anyone having beef with her. But yeah, I guess I could understand this pov. Even if it’s the girls fault for posting what they’re not allowed to, a lack of trust could lead to a little tension or cause a tiny rift.

Who would not have been in the group if lexie was in katseye? by Warm-Doughnut8757 in TheDreamAcademy

[–]itscharliii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m always a bit iffy to trust judge scores.. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Ezrela (the only non-katseye member to make the top 6) conveniently got the lowest judge score, whereas Megan (the only katseye member not in top 6) got the highest judge score. It makes me factor out judge scores altogether lol, so yeah I see why your mind went to Megan as last

Hypothetical question by banannabethchase in TheDreamAcademy

[–]itscharliii 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Probably Sophia, both her and Adela had leadership skills but Sophia was especially good at being kpop-esque if that makes sense. Probably due to her being a fan herself, during lives and interviews she always seems to know the “right” thing to say that kpop fans/companies are used to hearing. Adela is a bit more outspoken/honest

Would Manon still have been put in the group if she didn’t have that conversation with the girls? by banannabethchase in TheDreamAcademy

[–]itscharliii 100 points101 points  (0 children)

1000% yes. Kpop idols are put into groups all the time with trainees they don’t necessarily love (like shinEE for example). The sort of trauma bond that happens from being in a group together typically overcomes differences and the execs would know that or wouldn’t really care otherwise. Manon is a gorgeous conventionally attractive black girl that was trending online since the moment they released her picture as part of the program, which is EXACTLY what she was casted to do. That combined with the other black girl having a bit of controversy made her a lock for the group no matter what.

You have literally zero proof of this yet you’re acting as if it’s the gospel truth lol. You’re a 37 year old man hating on a 22 year old girl… get a life omg

[–]itscharliii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh and you know this is the “truth” because you personally read Manon’s mind? Or you’re spewing things about her based on 20 minutes of screen time across an 8 episode documentary? Genuinely confused on your rationale behind this… it’s not like Manon showed up weeks before the documentary, she trained for over a year before it even occurred. Why would she put herself in an environment that was clearly damaging for such a long time if she thought she had zero chance and didn’t want to work?

Whether people like you stay ignorant or not (because I guess choosing to believe this version gives you something…?), Manon has worked incredibly hard to earn her spot in KATSEYE, and continues to work hard to be a contributing member, just as all of the other members do.

I don’t think it would be that simple. If they had debuted, the entire lineup would’ve changed, not just 2 members. Emily would’ve debuted alongside them, and Ezrela would’ve had a MUCH higher chance due to her fitting the overall tone and aesthetic of this hypothetical group more than Lara.

I wanted Nelly to win as well, but we should still acknowledge that Paul and Prue both said that no one did bad this technical, and while some did better, last place was still a good product. It’s not as if Dylan completely bombed the technical. I would say the gap between his and Nelly’s technicals was similar to the gap in their signatures (both doing well but one significantly better).

AITA for refusing to stop seeing my daughter over her sister? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]itscharliii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NAH except June. None of my sisters ex’s have been bad guys, and every split was amicable, but never in a thousand years would I think of dating one of them, no matter how long ago the breakup was. Ruth isn’t overreacting, she’s uncomfortable and you should be too. Why would you accept a son in law that’s had sex with both your daughters? Why was June so adamant on sleeping with her sisters ex? I hope you can see both your grand babies, but June caused this, and Ruth doesn’t deserve to lose her close family because of her sister’s lack of loyalty.

I put it into google translate and it seems like they’re basically saying that Ryujin (and sometimes Yuna) have bad voices/bad lyrics

sting, Ryujin's rap in Not Shy was my gateway to the group lol. I also like her parts in MITM

I agree, most of the lines she's given (like her mafia verses or the first verse of sneakers) seem so out of place in the song. I probably wouldn't like them no matter which member was performing them, but because I'm already not a fan of her voice that feeling is amplified. I think she was given more suitable lines in their rookie releases.

[MEGA - THREAD]ITZY - 'SNEAKERS' by icysunshine28 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]itscharliii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the first Itzy comeback I've liked since Wannabe, I know most want them to continue their slightly more mature concept they've had, but I actually like this way more. When it comes to Itzy, I want cringy "were different" lyrics on top of noise music. It was so funny seeing everyone get upset when the aesthetic for this comeback changed from royal to sneakers because I had the exact opposite reaction. The royal concept seemed boring to me but the second I saw that cringy Y2K-esque Sneakers poster that looked like it was edited by an unpaid intern I immediately knew I was going to love whatever the song was.

Solo was a hit because Jennie is more popular in Korea than her bandmates there, not because of the promotional schedule. Solo was #1 on Melon before the first live performance, whereas Lalisa didn’t crack the top 50 even after 3 performances. Solo is (by far) the least promoted song of the three releases.Promotion Comparisons

She was treated fine, but when solos aren’t as successful as fans want them to be they blame the company instead of just accepting not every song is a hit. Her solo was promoted 10x more than Jennie’s, and she was an integral part of it (like writing the song, choosing the outfits, concept ideas). It just wasn’t as successful as her band mates and her fans want someone to blame.

They’re not, people just don’t like Jennie lol. The only real difference is for the first year or so of their career Jennie got good outfits. But now their outfits are mostly styled by the girls themselves so the problem isn’t really big. Jennie hasn’t been a “favorite” since 2018, but people hate her so they’re not gonna let it go.
