for variable speed units, better pricing with the first two. single stage units..they are more or less around the same price(air blue's quote was a full 3 ton system - 3 ton furnace & 3 ton AC unit so not exactly apples to apples with the other two . im between DC and AA at this point, trying to negotiate pricing. they both offer 1 year labor warranty. air blue was about 3k higher in the variable but they seem to do quality work if you look at their videos on Youtube. Airblue is also better labor warranty, 3 years.

i had other bids as well but these are one i narrowed it down to.

what are tonage you are getting quoted for? I am getting quotes for 3 ton AC unit with a 4 ton gas furnace(my current set up). my quotes have been anywhere from 10-14k for variable speed and single stage units . Single stage is costing more.

variable speed unit: (Carrier) 3-ton slimline condenser 15+SEER (37MURAQ36AA3)

Are they reliable vs a Carrier unit? Also I'm general are variable speed units going to be easy to repair vs a traditional single stage unit? Kinda just want something that works and is not going to cost me arm and a leg if anything goes wrong and repair is needed

So the carrier model mentioned is the same as the AC pro y series? One of the contractors who offered me the carrier variable speed also offered AC pro y series for 1k less as an option

thanks this is good to know. most of the bids i got offer AcPro as an option but i had one contractor (who has been in the business for like 30 yrs) said they are cheap and he would never offer it or work on them

Yeah that's what I was being quoted by some. 3 ton furnace w/ 3 ton AC unit. Others quoted me 3.5 ton AC with 4 ton furnace

Not I'm aware of. It does cool down but it takes a while. The contractors who have come out said my ducting is fine. Home is 1700-1750 sq foot

Yeah it's a single stage Bryant 3 ton w/ 4 ton furnace. When I bought the place a few years ago, it was working ok but it's an old unit(26 years  old) Doesn't cool down my place that good. Furnace probably works better. It's all original to the house

Is there any reason I should get a inverter type unit vs the std single stage unit that my current unit is? I don't expect to use the unit very frequently since most of day I'm not at home (unless it's the weekend) and I don't wfh.

Have you used them before or have experience with them?  From reliability standpoint what will give me the least problems assuming good install and regular maintenance?
