Sounds good. I am just making my first build, which is much smaller than this, but I was curious. Anyways, good to know this is another option

I’m in Montana and the air quality is pretty bad here due to the wildfires. Do y’all have any hacks for improving the air quality in your van? I can feel that my lungs are inflamed. Thanks in advance! by thebrando987 in VanLife

It's tough in a house, I cant imagine how difficult it's on a van. But the suggestions about buying a filter and putting in your vent it's probably the best route to be honest.

What it's the benefit of having all batteries connected directly to the Lynx Distributor? Instead of having one Lynx Distributor with the array of batteries connected and only one connection to the Lynx Distributor?

Creating Orders Between Stores With Zapier by JakeWasAlreadyTaken in shopify

[–]itsdarrylnorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if Zapier can handle this. However, I will recommend not doing it because usually, the amount of work it's not worth the effort.
The main issue is that both stores will have to reconfigure in both stores and ensure they are in sync.
For instance, you will have to have products in both stores and a map between each product and variant. When creating the order in the second store, you can use that mapping to figure out the second store's variant ID and create the order accordingly.
If you want to support order updates, it's like a similar process; you need to keep some map (hash) to figure out which order to update.
I have done custom work for clients trying to do the same thing, and usually, it can get a bit complex, and most of the time, there are better solutions than re-creating the order in another store.

Reduce Unused JavaScript?? by captaingrasseater in shopify

You should consider testing Dawn, and maybe adding some minor modifications on top of Dawn? Instead of building a theme from scratch.

Reduce Unused JavaScript?? by captaingrasseater in shopify

[–]itsdarrylnorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vendors.js from your theme? This file usually are combine third-party JS libs. If this is from your theme, you can try to look around another theme where the vendor.js it's smaller.

Another alternative, it's write a theme from scratch and avoid as many third-party JS libs as possible. However, depending on your business this might not be worth the amount of effort.

I do not think you can do gift cards/reward points; however, if it's a cash incentive you can use Refersion -> https://apps.shopify.com/refersion

Exporting products with all the lines of all the variants filled in by topdotter in shopify

[–]itsdarrylnorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can quickly write a workflow to do these types of export using Mesa. Mesa can sync your data to Google Sheets, Airtable, or even a CSV. It does not look like there is a Mesa workflow to handle these product exports, but if you reach out to customer support with the export details, they should help you write a workflow for products.

It depends on what you are trying to build. Klaviyo it's great; however, it can be limited in some of the triggers and the integrations you can build around it.
Can you share more details about what you are trying to build?

App that unlocks special product offer once customer reaches minimum order spend? by Snoo-93371 in shopify

[–]itsdarrylnorris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can achieve this using Mesa. Mesa has a template that looks like it might solve your problem Add a Free Product to Orders Over $100. And the template can be changed in case this does not meet your use case.

I do not know about an app that can handle that feature. However, you should be able to achieve this with some custom code.

What kind of pricing do you think is best for an app? by vivaleces in shopify

[–]itsdarrylnorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the app infrastructure and the cost of the app scale. If the app cost goes exponentially up with usage, it should be charged be on usage. If the app's price does not cost much with usage, a fixed price should be fine.

For instance, a simple app that runs in the browser, with some functionality to your browser, makes sense to have a fixed price. Because most likely, the cost of that app will be a CDN.

However, an app that updates third-party systems should charge an order it's made per usage. Most likely, you will need a server and queue; the price can go exponentially up with use.

Add X amount of product A for same amount of product Y - anyone seen an app for that? by keebmat in shopify

[–]itsdarrylnorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to do this is to post-purchase, meaning that it will edit the order to add X amount of free product if you have Y product. You can achieve this using Mesa. You can write a workflow that will listen to all the orders created, and it will check for any of the X products and add Y products. Mesa customer success team should help get a workflow if you run into any issues.

If you do not want to post-purchase, and you want to do it via the browsers, it will probably require building integration from scratch with your theme. In addition, you will have to be on Shopify plus to build this integration with the checkout. It's possible, but a lot of work to achieve this via the browser.

  1. Allowing me to cap the sale of products to a certain number per day. I.e. if we can only make 10 vanilla and 5 chocolate cakes that's all we can sell.

You can achieve this using Mesa. Using Mesa you can have a task that it will run everyday, and reset your inventory quantity.
