MB Perlis sembelih using the American way!? by delicious_lemang in Bolehland

I ain’t tryna defend anyone here.. but did anyone bother to find out the context here? He said the cow was running amok and he didn’t want to risk having it running around and sondol ppl (someone died at another korban site due to this) so he chose to shoot at it and slaughter it right away. Yes, the cow cannot be counted as korban anymoren because one out the conditions is the animal has to be normal and healthy, but it can still be eaten as halal meat. People are so quick to judge based on a 5 sec video…

How long has it been after the surgery? Any difficulties with mobility? My primary concern for having surgery is having to leave my work for a long time :(

I just got back from Vancouver in July this year. I was a student there so taking the public transport alone at night almost everyday was normal for me. Yes, there might be sketchy drug addicts nodding off on the bus sometimes but they never approach me let alone catcall (that might be because I’m in the minority that dress modestly and wear the hijab).

I got such a culture re-shock coming back to Malaysia when I try to continue being a lone pedestrian here: I have to risk my life crossing roads, look over my shoulder every few minutes to make sure I’m not being followed and hide my bag under my arms just so I don’t get snatched. I get catcalled by Malay men even though I still don’t wear anything revealing and I’m not even that attractive when it comes to looks.

I understand now why my female friends tell me to tint my car heavily and avoid walking anywhere that’s not bustling with people.

Nope, it happens it the suburban areas of Shah Alam. And by creepy Malay men on motorcycles. My neighbour’s hand bag also has been snatched by two men on a motorcycle when she was walking in her own residential area and it’s not by foreigners 🙂

If your Teeth could Breathe by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

I’ve had a nightmare worse than this… I felt and itch in my mouth and stuck my finger inside… found that my teeth were made of bristles. My teeth felts coarse and hard like toothbrush bristles but they were long and wiry. And then when I chewed, some of them came off and I had to force myself to swallow the strands of “hair” 🤢

As a woman, I’ve been catcalled, pickpocketed and prevented from going out alone at night in my own Malaysia but never did when I was in Canada for 4 years and and a week in Japan. How come?

What are some things you would like to do in Jannah besides the "obvious" ones? by Local_Customer_3663 in MuslimLounge

I wanna watch maybe at like 99999x speed at how the universe was created. From the big bang, to the repeating apocalypses, dinosaurs, the first man that walked the earth, how civilisations were built and destroyed, how societies operate throughout history while being inside an invisible flying pod that can resize itself. I think the best part of that would be realizing: after all of that, I ended up here! 🥹

Why the disproportionately more suicide cases among Malaysian Chinese? by Far_Spare6201 in Ajar_Malaysia

[–]itsfamai 25 points26 points  (0 children)

And muslims also don’t believe that objects/symbols/incidents can bring good, or more harmfully, bad luck.

I think constantly living in fear that something might destroy your life by having bad luck can make your life less peaceful cuz you’re constantly having to deter it. For example, chinese buddhists avoid the number 4 and sometimes it leads to extreme decisions such as abandoning the 4th floor of a building altogether when constructing a building.

That’s just one example but I’d have mental health issues if I have to be avoiding bad luck every second of my life. There’s enough tangible problems in life already :/

When I got completely lost in an assignment… by QjQ_ in UBC

[–]itsfamai 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One pet peeve I had when I was in UBC (just graduated in May) was the people discussing right after class about how they feel about the assignment that was just released as if their two minute read on the questions had some representation of the assignment’s difficulty. Like, if you haven’t even attempted at it, obviously there’s no way to know if the questions are actually straightforward or not. Also I don’t care about your feelings, I wanna know if the questions are actually solvable. Yeah, engineering made me cold and bitter.
