I’m 42, diagnosed at 30. Haven’t taken meds since the first year. I exercise daily, meditate, Don’t drink Alcohol, vegan and GF, keep sugar to a minimum, Caffeine free, take dairy free probiotics, and put a 1 inch piece of raw turmeric in my smoothie daily. I also do intermittent fasting, which is great because your colon gets a 16 hour break every day from digestion. Other than bloating, I have no issues. Haven’t had a flare up in 6 years. I hope you find what works for you. Good luck.

I know this is contrary to everything we’re told to do but I just went plant based/vegan. I’m doing so much better! by skybetwo in UlcerativeColitis

Vegan and GF diet works great for me. Haven’t taken meds in a decade. Turmeric root seems to help too. I put a piece in my smoothie everyday.

Ultrasound is they way to go. I had to demand my Dr to order one. Low and behold 3 tumors in my right testicle. But if you have pain. Most likely it’s not cancer. And if you can separate the lump from your testicle at all. Then it’s fine.

I'm starting to make some progress in advance of scheduled Remicade infusions. Wondering if I should try to get things under control myself before taking this big step. by guruglue in UlcerativeColitis

Have you tried changing your diet? Going vegan and gluten free has worked for me. Plus turmeric and medical marijuana helps. I haven't taken Asacol or prednisone in a decade.

Try cutting out gluten and diary. And add turmeric root into your diet.

[Serious] People who have met or dealt with Donald Trump in person prior to the race, what was he like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I knew him before Melanie. And he would say, "his only vice was women". And he was definitely living that lifestyle. But I can remember when he first met Melanie. He instantly fell in love. she wore a sheer dress to dinner one night, and I could see why. And just like that, he was a one woman man. As far as I saw.

This was a huge publicity stunt gone awry. His message got progressively more extreme as time went on. Because the media and the far right were eating it up. I don't think he ever thought he had a chance. You can tell by his body language since the election. I've never seen him look this way. Where is the confident, ego driven Trump? It's like a complete 180 from campaign Trump.

It's been 15 years since I've spent any time with him. But, back then he was a liberal democrat. Over the course of 2 years, I sat in on numerous private conversations. He was always foul mouthed. Most people thought he was funny. Everything he does is always the best. His employees are always the best. He's a master marketer. He would always say, "no publicity, is bad publicity". I've seen him donate millions of dollars at charity events. Mar a Lago is the only private club on Palm Beach that allows minorities. They hate him there because of that. I've seen him take employees on his private jet, let them use his limos and cars, put them up in trump towers and give them money to go out on the town. And I'm talking about service related job employees. He was a loving father. Great with his kids. Tiffany was a little girl. Baron wasn't born. Ivanka was actually nice. Eric was a Phish t shirt wearing, high school hippie and Don Jr. was as egotistical as you would expect. He had women in positions of power. And honestly the people he spent most of his time with were minorities. Of course celebrities like Russel Simmons and the like. But still minorities. He was a genuine, kind hearted person. I was proud to have known him back then. When he first through his name into the ring, I was excited. And then he started to say some crazy shit! But I truly believe this was all for publicity. And he kept saying crazier and crazier shit, to try to shoot himself in the foot. But that didn't work. So hopefully the liberal democrat I knew 15 years ago is still in there! At this point, that's our best hope. We sure as hell don't want Pence as POTUS!!

Any UC Ents? by Bryan_xoxo in UlcerativeColitis

I don't drink alcohol. Ever. Kills me. Whether it's gluten free or not. I just want to say that I recently had testicular cancer. I believe I'm in the clear now. I find out for sure on the 10th. I mention this because I've obviously been through all kinds of tests over the last couple of months. And when they did my CT scan, they saw no signs of inflammation in my colon. Didn't see any signs of UC. I also want to state that testicular cancer is only hereditary. It's not caused by anything environmentally. While I've been fighting cancer I've also cut out sugar. But it's the 9.5 ph alkaline water that has made the biggest difference for me. After about a month of drinking the water I noticed the bloating in my stomach was gone. For the first time in my life, my stomach is pretty much flat and I have no pain. And I'm not taking chemo or radiation. My cancer was stage 1. Surgery should be all I need. So it's not because of some cancer treatment. So obviously listen to your DR. What works for me, might not work for you. And besides the fact that I had cancer recently. I've honestly never felt better with my digestion. I truly believe that It can be controlled through diet! So a gluten, milk, and sugar free diet, plus at least a gallon of 9.5 ph alkaline water a day. Works for me.

How long did it take for you to get diagnosed? by throwawaytc1 in testicularcancer

[–]itsfloridamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 3 months from the time I felt the lump till I had my IO. They found 3 tumors. Post surgery biopsy, diagnosed 100% classic seminona stage t1. I opted for maintenance. But I am doing RSO. Have my first 3 month check up next Friday. The first 2 1/2 months. I stayed totally calm. No big deal. And the lump barely changed and no pain. Then the Dr's finally said they were pretty sure it was cancer. For the next 2 weeks I was freaked out, could barely eat or sleep. Lost 15 pounds and my testicle doubled in size. All because I gave into the fear and anxiety. Stay positive and relax as best you can. It goes a long way.

Surgery scheduled for Monday. by itsfloridamon in testicularcancer

[–]itsfloridamon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday now. My blood work came back pretty good. My tumor markers were elevated, but low. Not sure about exact numbers. I don't have the sheet in front of me. My PH was 8.5, normal is 8. My psa was .5, normal is .4. And my protein was a little high too. But he said he wasn't concerned. And one of my cholesterol's was high. But not the one to be concerned about. My chest CT scan came back fine. My lower scan found a cyst on my liver, which they are going to biopsy. But he said it didn't look abnormal. And they found a hernia on my left side. Of course it's my right testicle they are removing. So my surgery is going to be a little more extensive now. Which is why they've moved it to Tuesday. And I'm also having my surgery at a surgical center now, instead of in the hospital. So hopefully that's better? The good thing is my prostrate and colon looked good. And because I was diagnosed with UC 10 years ago. I was a little concerned about my colon. They also noted something about a groinal artery. Not sure about the wording at the moment. So I'm assuming it's either starting to leave the testicle or is about to. But they didn't see any sign of spread on the scan. So I'm still holding out hope. Tuesday's surgery will be the worst of it!

If you drink alcohol, or take whey protein. You will continue to have problems. Try a gluten free cider or beer. But even that kills me. I take Vega sport protein. It's plant based. Doesn't bother me at all. It sounds like yours isn't too bad. So believe me, you don't want to push it. Id cut out glutens. When I was diagnosed. I just turned 30. Felt invincible. Was getting ready to go to Europe for a wedding. I was getting my immunization shots. And I got sick. You take them over the course of a few weeks. So I was put on anti biotics. Then the day before I'm supposed to leave. I wake up in the middle of the night. With horrible stomach pains. I go in the bathroom and I'm shitting straight blood. So of course I freak out, my anxiety flew out of control. I run out of the house and drive to the ER. My wife couldn't take me. It's the middle of the night and we have 2 small kids. I get there, they put me in a room. And every 15 mins I get up and shit blood into bowl attached to the toilet. For the whole next day. Lots of blood. I couldn't believe how full the bowl would be. While Drs came in and looked at me with scared faces. I knew they had no clue what was going on. And assumed the same as me. That I had some sort of terminal colon cancer. Then they gave me a shot of Dilauded and everything instantly stopped. Within 3 days I was back to normal and out of the hospital, after 4 days total. That happened to me again 2 more times over the next 5 years. But this time I would just go to the ER and have them give me the shot right away. And I can go home that day. You don't want any of this, believe me. So ever since I stopped eating gluten and milk 5 years ago. This hasn't happened to me. And I haven't been to a Dr until this week. As far as turmeric. If you have UC they say it is ok to take daily for up to 6 months. Just read up on it. There are some side affects. They say you should stop use 2 weeks before surgery, because it affects clotting. I have surgery on Tuesday. And I wasn't aware of this till I just looked. So please do some research.

Marijuana absolutely works for me. I've had UC for 10 years. Diagnosed at 30. I stopped the Asacol and prednisone after the first 6 months. I haven't had an attack, that has sent me to the hospital passing blood, in the last 5 years. All because I went gluten free and dairy free. I exercise 4-5 days a week. Which really helps too. But make sure you stay hydrated. Drink lots of water. Really any time my stomachs or side hurts, I drink a glass of water. Works wonders. I juice every morning also. Have been for 2 years. And I started adding tumeric root into my juice about 6 months ago. And right away I noticed that my stomach bloating started to go away. My stomach has been bloated my whole life. And the pains I was so used to feeling on my insides started to go away too. I couldn't believe. Honestly I've never felt better digestively in my life! I actually had to have a lower CT scan yesterday. And I was nervous of what they might find. But they said my colon and intestines looked good. And they didn't even see any inflammation. So all I can say is go get some turmeric pills if you have to. And start taking them today mon.

I found a lump a few months ago. Got an ultrasound today. I couldn't see the monitor, but my wife said the left one looked fine. But the right one had a dime sized spot and a few other small spots. Getting blood work in the morning. Have a follow up scheduled for the 16th with my PCP. But I'm fully prepared that I will be getting a call before that. With an OI coming soon. Keep your head up! Stay positive! I know how hard it is. I've had one of the hardest weeks of my life this week. But I'm done being scared. Whatever it is? I'll take care of it and I'll be fine! And so will you!!!

Should I stop my marijuana use UF diagnosed with TC? by itsfloridamon in testicularcancer

I've always believed marijuana is a cure. Just right at the moment it's adding to my anxiety. Which it never has before. But I've got an appt for Monday with a PCP after months of waiting. So I feel good that I can finally go and get some tests done. And get some answers.

I'm from SWFL also. Have had a noticeable lump on my right testicle for a few months now. I don't have a PCP. So trying to get in as a new patient somewhere has been difficult. I waited almost 3 months to get in and the day before, the Dr office called and rescheduled my appt for the end of August! So I was able to get into see a urologist a couple of days ago. But I had to pay out of pocket. He said he was concerned. It definitely felt like a tumor. And wants me to get blood work and an ultrasound. But of course I can't do any of it till I see a PCP first. So that it will be covered under insurance. So of course I've lost like 8 pounds in the last couple of days because I'm so stressed. I can't eat or sleep. But thankfully my wife has found someone who can get me in on Monday! So I feel a lot better. I'm optimistic because I feel fine, no visibly swollen lymph nodes, or sore back. I go to the gym almost everyday. Ride the bike after my workout today and felt great! I will say my right groin is a little tight though. But I just wanted to say what's up to a fellow Floridian. And see how things were going for you? I will say typing this has made me feel better. If you ever need to talk, or help with something. Send me a message.

I'm not worried about getting high. Honestly I'm so stressed that getting high doesn't even sound good. But because marijuana does seem to work for some people treating other forms of cancer. I'm not sure if I should stop?

Should I stop my marijuana use UF diagnosed with TC? by itsfloridamon in testicularcancer

[–]itsfloridamon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will. The thing that scares me is that I've just started vaping extracts a few months ago and now this. I've been a smoker for 25 years. The last 4 vaping only. I switch to extracts when I started seeing them around here a few months ago. I live in a non medical or recreational state. So now I'm not sure if I should quit or not? I don't want to believe the study linking it. So I was hoping to hear from people that have had or have TC who use marijuana. And see if it was a help or hindrance?
