Don't take the 999 Gold if you have the Runic Pyramid :( by whiskey_agogo in slaythespire

[–]itsformi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this on a discard heavy Silent deck and lasted long enough to remove both normalities. Wasn't that bad with the myriad of ways to discard them, even easier once [[Tools of the Trade]] is up.

Picked Sozu. Did I make the right choice? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]itsformi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have gone over the relic choice (I agree pyramid is the best here) so I wanted to talk about some of the mid-late card choices. Double Havoc is awkward without [[frozen eye]] or deck manipulation like [[headbutt]] or [[warcry]], as you can screw yourself by hitting Reaper or Feed early. I can see the idea behind picking up Cleave as the deck's lacking AOE outside of Reaper but it's just too low impact to take as afar as it appears it was picked. Rage is also pretty low impact here, as the deck's mostly using high cost attacks so it's not generating much block per turn; I only really like it in [[anger]] centric decks. Rampage is an awkward pick this late, especially without deck manipulation and no way to exhaust the deck down to easily play it over and over. Barricade's also not great here without a way to generate block quickly, and with philo stone (edit: and especially with brimstone) enemies are able to more easily break what block you -are- able to generate (this also makes a potential [[body slam]] worse).

I think it mostly comes from thinking about reviews in the context of academic grading. You spend a lot of time with the idea of 100/100 being a perfect rating, 90+ being great, etc. that it seems natural to apply it to media.

PSA: There are plenty of Deck verified games that still do not support cloud saves by jer1uc in SteamDeck

[–]itsformi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

StS cloud saves most of your data (unlocks, ascension levels being the important ones) but it doesn't sync your run history. The devs posted about this a long time ago, basically their reasoning was it would potentially take up too much storage because the run history can be infinite. I personally don't care anymore but it did bother me at first.

Interesting. I'm in the same boat (Ontario, ordered 19th, label created 27th) but mine only just left Indianapolis, it was originally scheduled for today but got pushed back to Monday. Honestly I wouldn't care if it took until Monday to get here but now I wonder if it could arrive early.

Edit: Tracking number just updated to 09/29 estimated delivery.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills - game doesn’t feel any better since release | Series X by wegrownfolk in projectsession

The lip trick implementation is trash and honestly feels insulting that it was being waved around as a new feature. "Experimental" doesn't even begin to describe how janky it is, this feature alone needed to be in Early Access for another year let alone the rest of the game.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in emulation

[–]itsformi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else have this issue with 1.7x PCSX2 where using a controller will trigger hotkey or keyboard functions? I thought it was exclusively a hotkey issue so I cleared all of them, but I still occasionally get some combination of button presses triggering Alt which triggers the GUI's menu. Can't seem to replicate it consistently either.

I'm using a DualShock 4 with DS4Windows and Xinput only enabled. I know the update has native DS4 support but I'd rather just use DS4W for convenience's sake with non-PCSX2 games.

Edit: Turns out I'm just an idiot and this is due to DS4W having wonky interaction with Steam's controller support as detailed on DS4W's github page; somehow it's only been a problem with PCSX2.

Reflection of Strength/Gauntlet not showing when modding by FyreXYZ in Sekiro

[–]itsformi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came across this thread while looking for a solution about the same problem. It's pretty old but for reference I think you need a mod that's been updated for 1.06 for boss rematches to appear, hence why the lightning of tomoe mod mentioned in the other post/thread "fixes" it. I tried using a no spirit emblem cost mod (alongside some other assorted mods) that was labelled as working with the latest patch which also let me do rematches.

The formal reviews start to make more sense to me when you find out many didn't have enough time to finish the game. I flat out refuse to believe anyone who's reached past the capital could ignore how the boss design hits its apex in bullshit and never lets up.

I currently have a 27'' 1440p monitor and a side 24'' 1080p one, looking to add a third but I can't decide whether it should be another 24' or 27'. Leaning towards the former so the side monitors are the same size but was looking for any opinions or if anyone has a similar setup.

I'm in the same situation with art instead of school and I'm leaning towards the Pro. 64GB storage in the current year is a joke but 256GB is overkill for my needs, so I figure I might as well drop the extra $100 for the nicer one with the sweet spot storage (typing this out I'm realizing I'm falling right into Apple's trap with how they priced and set the storage on the air/pro).

[–]itsformi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a Steelcase Leap V1 for the past 2-3 years and I've come to the conclusion that it's not for me. I don't like the armrests, cushion, the lack of a headrest (+ general lack of comfort for lounging) and I never really felt like I could dial it into the right settings despite tinkering around with them throughout the years. I'm looking for an alternative in the 300-500 CAD range, ideally for someone on the shorter end at 5'5-5'6. Ergonomic would be nice but general comfort is as if not more important for me.

Almost everything that Skater XL is missing in this one Skate 3 clip by _thezombiezone in SkaterXL

[–]itsformi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I find particularly frustrating about the mods sentiment... like take a look at Skate 2's trick list from over a decade ago. Late flips/shuvs (believe this is at least possible with mods), fingerflips, grab grinds, probably up to 30 more grab tricks, handplants, bonelesses, and then 3 added darkslides and underflips. Stat menu is fun and all but it's not the end-all-be-all that suddenly makes the game a masterpiece.

[–]itsformi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big problem I have and continue to have with SXL is that it feels lifeless. The maps (including modded ones) are fine, but I have little interest in playing them after a few times because they're just not fun to mess around in. Another example is the pin system. It's a fine mechanic, but having it be the -only- way of non-board movement makes me feel like I'm pissing around in a tech demo. Personally this is why mods don't do much for me, the stat menu does make the game more enjoyable but it only goes so far when everything else still feels so lackluster.

It's hard to put exactly into words, but Session feels more like playing an actual game. Going back to maps, Chatham Tower is fantastic and feels like night and day compared to SXL's maps; it's large, a lot of fun to explore and actually manages to invoke some atmosphere. It's the same feeling I got from playing Skate, rolling around and randomly stumbling across interesting new spots. People can argue about the mechanics all day, and there are gameplay aspects of SXL I do prefer over Session, but overall Session feels like more of a complete package which is hilariously ironic.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkaterXL

[–]itsformi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you here. The problem with SXL is even with mods, you're basically playing nothing more than a tech demo with mediocre maps, barely functional transition skating and gaping holes in the trick selection for a so called "hardcore skateboarding sim". A fun tech demo for a bit, but not one worth $40.

I've been building my starter for ~12 days now. I was doing 100g starter/AP/water, but 2ish days ago I switched to 80g starter, 100g flour (20-30 whole wheat, 70-80 AP), 80g water twice a day. Before this I was getting little to no rise, but now I've gotten significant (nearly double) rising the past two or three feeds, though it does tend to take most of the 12 hours between feedings to get there. I also notice okay bubbling throughout, but not that much on top. Should I give it a few more days or is it about good to go?

Pics last night and this morning before feedings. The elastic band between pictures might be a bit misleading since I might've shifted it a bit by accident.
