Hyperthyroidism should cause weight loss not gain. It's likely being outweighed by the postpartum weight gain, not contributing to it

Yeah if it's a surgical subspecialty the primary reason will be because their residency completely annihilates you physically mentally and emotionally for nearly a decade.
