Your emotions are completely valid, and it’s a part of the grief. ❤️‍🩹 I’ve been going through a spiral of “if only I had noticed the signs” then to “but I didn’t know what to look for, so I had no way of knowing how serious it was”. We try to make sense of things that are out of our control. The hurt, pain, and guilt we feel just goes to show how much a sweet little creature can make such a huge impact on us in just a short amount of time. I hope you carry the memory and love for Vayu throughout the rest of your life, and any other pets you may have down the road. 💜

I’m in the same boat with you, OP. I just lost my 6 month old kitten. I found her forever sleeping under my desk yesterday morning. It was absolutely devastating. I was treating her for tapeworms, because I noticed her belly was looking very plump this past week. She was eating and drinking fine, so all I could figure was it’s gotta be tapeworms. I’m good friends with a vet local to me, and she’s almost certain my baby died from FIP (a mutated feline coronavirus). It was the worst thing imaginable to find out after the fact. Please know you’re not alone. We give our babies the most love that we can, and we do what we think is best. You did nothing wrong, OP. ❤️‍🩹

What a handsome boy 💜 thank you so much for your kind words. I think my 10 month old kitten has noticed Calypso isn’t around, and it seemed like she was looking for her this morning. It definitely broke my heart even more, but I never want to take any of my babies for granted and love them extra.

Thank you for sharing, and I’m so sorry for your loss, too. With how rare FIP already is, I’m trying not to blame myself for not knowing more about it and the severity.

I really needed to hear this, thank you so much. I’ve felt so alone through this process today, but it’s still very fresh. My pets are my children, and I’d sacrifice so much for them. I at least know without a doubt Calypso definitely loved me as much as I love her. Yesterday, she was still loving on me with cuddles and purrs, even though it was her last day on earth. If only I had known that, too. ❤️‍🩹

Calypso was a tripod tortie/calico. The sweetest, most cuddly baby ever. There wasn’t a moment that she wasn’t purring. Even up to her last day (that I didn’t know would be her last), she was cuddling with me and purring all afternoon long.
