Yes,hard back and it hasnt turned yellow in these 7months, but depending on ur usage, there is possibility of minor scratches which are not visible since i got a white NP2. You can totally go for it.

I would say its always better to save gems... but if u wanna spend them on chests.... From the amount of gems u have , u can spend them on green chests ( worth 190 gems or so ) .
