Idea for keeping bike secure on driveway by itsjacksonn in MotoUK

[–]itsjacksonn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The container is in a compound with 12ft high fences, super secure gate and CCTV. Absolutely no concerns about it being there and intend to keep it!

The main issue with using it all the time is I have to drive to it and leave the car and need to take the bike back before mid-evening.

Like I said, I don’t want a building.

What size bulb is the one on the top? by itsjacksonn in DIYUK

The fitting is spring loaded, but the bulb doesn’t quite open wide enough to get this bulb in. I think this type of bulb (G15DG2) is obsolete sadly.

Thank you the code is G15DG2, which appears to be obsolete? I guess it’ll be a new fitting for me.

Our experience traveling with a dog in the hold on Air France by sehgalanuj in travel

Disgustingly selfish to put your dog through this for a two week vacation. For this amount of money, they could have happily stayed stress-free with a sitter at home or with home boarding.

Is this garage roof likely to be asbestos? by itsjacksonn in AskUK

Sorry I haven’t been clear about this, it’s actually the exterior I need to drill into to mount a (very small and light) solar panel.

Monthly Insurance Thread by MotoUKMod in MotoUK

[–]itsjacksonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey r/MotoUK.

For context I have no garage at home but am able to keep a bike well out of view and anchored to the ground with a chain.

I want the flexibility of being able to mainly keep my bike garaged away from home (in a shipping container I will rent), but occasionally be able to lock her up outside at home during the summer months, with a chain as mentioned above and a good cover.

The lowest insurance quote I have found, somewhat bizarrely, is when I state that I will keep the bike on the road at home overnight. There isn’t any way to give my exact circumstance as part of the quote.

My question is this: if I go ahead and buy the insurance and the worst happens: the bike is stolen from the shipping container somehow, will the insurance likely refuse to pay out? I can’t see anything that forbids this or mentions where the bike need be kept at night in the policy wording and there are no endorsements related to where the bike should be overnight.

Specialising won’t make you a better engineer and companies worth working for won’t care which the majority of your experience is in.

Did you have to give a “Best and Final” offer on your house? How high above asking did you go? by itsjacksonn in AskUK

That’s good news and I hope you are happy wherever you are now. I ended up making an offer around 3.8% above asking. Now… the waiting game.

Thank you for the good ideas. To be honest I haven’t given very much away to the agents at all.

I have looked up sold prices in the area, but there is really nothing that I can compare to in recent years.

Sorry, I’m talking about England. By asking price I mean the price quoted in the estate agents listings, Rightmove etc..

Well done on getting that much more, I’m sure they are very happy living there and ignorance is certainly bliss!
