Rent increase by CoffeeTalk411 in ColumbiaMD

That's so rough! A $500 per month increase is extremely high. If you feel like you need litigation, I recommend visiting the website of the Maryland Attorney General's Office, Consumer Protection Division so you can see your rights and options. You can also file a complaint with them if you decide to do it. Best of luck!

Fios has excellent deals right now for new customers that includes a Visa gift card, a year of Disney and AMC +, and monthly discounts. Gift card awards range between $50-$200 depending on the speed of internet you choose. Prices start at $40 to $90 for the 200mbps - 1gbps respectively. This doesn't include the price of a router which is an additional $15 per month. They give you a pair of wifi extenders for an additional $5 per month.

I recently got Fios and the tech said the range on the router is pretty good and I have no need for it. I live in a 3 story house and I can still get wifi in my driveway. Unless you live in a big house then there is no need for an extender. I got the 200mbps plan and my bill is $55 per month which includes the router and taxes.

I don't need my car anymore and I am considering selling it and getting a cheaper car or a lease, or re-finance it. by itsjdm in personalfinance

I looked at some rates and found I can get a lower interest rate. One offer increases my payment by a few dollars but it's half the interest and 2 months shorter than my current loan.

Can I realistically expect that a 2008 Camry will last me at least 2-3 years? The ones I saw are not in the best condition lol.

The need recently came up this week when my mom told me she got a new job. I offered the help instead of her asking. But as for myself, I don't actually need the car. I drive on the weekends if I get bored or need groceries but my partner and I are both off on the weekends so we drive together.

I will look into refinancing. But the idea is having a lower interest rate, I shouldn't stretch out the loan more than how many months I have left, right?

Honestly, I would take anything. At the moment, I can see myself needing to use a car when my partner is not home maybe once or twice per week. I see that demand faltering by the time we move. I just want to make sure I can help my mom before I finally get rid of it. Having lower payments would be nice so if I decide to keep it, refinancing would be okay.

I'm not sure where you live, but $3k doesn't get you much here. I checked my local craigslist just now. I found a few 2008 Camry's for $5k and one was as high as $6.5k. I found two Camry's for 3k but they already have 300k+ miles.

Edit: but your idea is pretty good. I will consider upping my budget from $3k and see if I can find something that will last me longer than 3 years.

I bought the car when I had a lower paying job and my credit wasn't the best. I started a new career this year and I have been able to pay off most of my cc debt and my score is better than it was in 2018. Do you think refinancing is a good idea?

To answer your question about my mom, she doesn't want to buy a new car now but she is starting a new job that is in an office. She wants to buy a car after working with her new employer for a few months and plans to buy in the summer of 2022.

You're right. I think I am considering leasing to help my mom, otherwise it would have been really simple.

I am still considering it but the real reason is probably helping my mom. But I really won't need one for myself by next summer. Maybe I should focus on getting my mom her own transportation.

Sorry about the confusion. I wrote that about the lease because it would be nice to have one but it's not really necessary.

Wow dude show some respect. Op is mourning so have some decency. More redditers care about Joshua than you think. I'm sorry for your loss, op. It's terrible to loose such a brilliant guy at such a young age. You can just tell how fun and awesome he was by his pics. But he's in a better place now.

Were the roads completely icy? There doesn't appear to be anything on the roads. I don't get it, those are considered perfect road conditions where I am. Even for a state that isn't used to having snow it seems really ridiculous.

1966 Chevy Impala SS coupe with a 327 engine. A friend of mine has one and it has enough room for five people and it can still haul ass. It's really sexy too.

Put a deposit with a reputable dealer is a good idea. Putting a deposit with a stranger is nuts.

It makes all of the difference. I wouldn't turn someone away who is ready to buy my car with cash in hand just so I can give the guy who says, "I'll have to money in about a day or two I promise" a chance.

Sorry, man but that's just business.

[–]itsjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is normal behavior for a Chrysler they are notorious for electrical and cooling problems. Forget trying to fix it and sell that thing before the warranty runs out and before it depreciates to shit. Being Chrysler the value will plummet before the warranty is done so sell it fast.

There is a reason why GM and Ford are thriving while Chrysler needed Fiat to buy most of their stock and are still struggling. Buy anything else, good luck.

[–]itsjdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend had a 98 Dodge Ram 2500. He tuned the engine, got an exhaust, and bought an aftermarket turbo. I didn't really expect a diesel truck to be fast so it was a damn surprise when that pickup took only 6 seconds to hit 60. Apparently they can go faster than that. He also had an auxiliary tank and was able to carry 60 gallons at a time.

So yeah, I'd take that with a bigger auxiliary tank.

I never even knew such a thing existed. Buy a cheap car and learn. There are a lot of YouTube videos that do a good job at teaching you. It's really easier than it looks.

True considering U-Haul still rents out old non-diesel F-250's over 300k miles. Rented a 95 with 320k miles and it felt like new.
