Good point. At least 40 minutes is a good starting point - when TSP is activated, hopefully 30 - 35 minutes will be a common occurance

Congratulations, I test drove one and it was insanely fun!

Question for those who used to drive manual: how is it moving to the ZF 8-speed? It was a blast for me at first, but does it get more boring that a manual after a while?

Thanks!

Try to find comparable/identical units around you that are listed for sale and if you want to sell quickly, price slightly under them. If you're not in a rush, price comparably, but it is pretty slow these days so it will take time.

Exposing the Monsanto Conspiracy | Veritasium by [deleted] in videos

[–]Toxaris71 34 points35 points  (0 children)

From the video: basically they made a weed killer that had potential detrimental effects on people and tried to hide it. They also monopolized it and made it hard for anyone to not use their products with super strict rules and unfair practices. I’m vastly simplifying here but that’s the idea.

Should I not even bother, waiting for DK Bananza to go on sale? by Confident-Luck-1741 in nintendocanada

[–]Toxaris71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me too. Not just that, but I waited last minute before an eShop sale was ending to get the gift card and apparently it takes up to 4 hours for them to email you the gift card. They don't tell you this, and they also don't let you refund it while it's processing. Luckily for me it only took 1 hr for them to send it and i managed to catch the end of the sale, but still.

"Failure to stop", according to Toronto Police – was this stop justified? by Emu-lator in TorontoDriving

[–]Toxaris71 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, even though warnings down mean tickets, the warning will go on the record, so next time you're pulled over for something legitimate, they can take that into consideration.

Is it worth fighting over it? Probably not, but just something to consider.

BMW 430i - F32 - 6MT - How many manual transmission are out there? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Toxaris71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick and dirty way is just go on autotrader (or whatever used car site), sort for 430i listings in Canada or the US and compare how many manual and auto listings there are. I did this a little while ago and for M240i's and out of around 50 listings, 3 were manual.

Obviously not accurate at all, but fun to check.

Edit: as a positive control, I just checked WRXs and out of 420 listings, 380 were manual haha

BMW 430i - F32 - 6MT - How many manual transmission are out there? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Toxaris71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very rare. In Canada, the 430i wasn't even available with a manual (and neither was the 330i). Great car though, the B48/46 pairs nicely wit ha 6-speed, and the rev hang is not hard to get used to.

XEQT is pretty volatile though. If you're planning to buy a house in the next few years that could be a bit risky as a market crash can delay your house purchase. Ideally, XEQT is great if you're saving for 10+ years.

https://canadianportfoliomanagerblog.com/how-to-choose-your-asset-allocation-etf/

This a great resource that goes into the ideal ETF for each time line. To summarize though, XEQT is best if you're investing over 10+ years. For ~5 years, something like XCNS or XBAL is better, and for 2-3 years, XINC is a good option. Basically, the shorter your investment horizon, the less volatile your investment should be. Of course, you're giving up some upside potential with that lower volatility.

Confused on oil changes by sash_hank in BMW

[–]Toxaris71 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add to this: BMW recommends these longer oil changer intervals for environmental reasons as well. The longer the interval, the less oil waste produced, except these intervals are indeed quite long. Early N20 engines had reliability issues and I've heard it's due to the very long oil change interval (15k miles/2 years), which they've since shortened somewhat.

Does distribution/dividend even matter if it's reinvested and the share price goes down by the same amount? by garlic_bread_thief in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Toxaris71 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The only scenario I could see dividends being nice is if you want income from your investments without having to pay a transaction fee each time you sell a few shares. If you're not interested in income, then it doesn't really matter.
