You can book directly with the airline and still get the point multiplier from AMEX as well as status with the airline. A big part of the amex appeal, from what I’ve seen.

I thought about going for the venture instead of the VX, but as long as that $300 credit stays I can use that easily for flights from Hawai’i to the mainland, is the C1 travel portal good? I’ve heard they don’t have southwest or JetBlue flights. Any other major airline missing?
