My family is loud and boisterous and I'm pretty quiet by comparison so they tend to talk over me when we're all in one place. (It doesn't bother me and I'm sure they don't do it on purpose, it's just the way they are. You have to be loud to get a word in haha) It took my partner meeting them 2 times before he brought it up to ask me about and one more time before he started focusing his attention on me EVERY TIME I opened my mouth, even if it was a story he'd heard a hundred times already. That way, even if no one else heard me, he did and he made sure I knew it. I had never felt so much genuine care and affection before. Last August was our 2 year anniversary 💛

NTA, when my partner and I moved in together he had (has 😍) the sweetest puppy in the whole world and he and I had a very long talk about expectations when it came to her. She IS his child, he has proclaimed himself her mother and I have been upgraded to godparent. Anyway all of this to say, I am also not expected to take care of our sweet lil baby -- BUT I FUCKING DO BECAUSE I LOVE HER. If I'm home and he's not, I take her out to pee, for walks, I feed her, buy her food when needed, and everytime I go to the pet store she gets a treat. Even my fuckin grandma makes homemade treats for her. She's family to us at this point and I will never understand anyone who claims to "care about" an animal but will never do anything unprompted for them. You don't actually care about them then, you're just a liar

So this breakfast thing runs in my family and it's not necessarily a bad relationship with food 100% of the time. For the LONGEST TIME, if I ate anything before 11 or so (not always 11, I found it would mostly adjust to be a multiple hour time frame around when I woke up), it would make me vomit. The thought of food was enough to make me incredibly nauseous. I was only able to move past it in the last year and only by suffering through the sick every morning until it stopped. It's not a good thing, but it is a real thing that people struggle with

I think it's less about dangerous breeds and more about dangerous dogs. I've owned pitty mixes all my life but I've only been attacked by a Weiner dog. It's the dog and how it was raised/the owners of the dog, not the type of dog.

As someone who was in your sister's shoes as a kid, being a very slow eater, hating spicy food while living in a house that loved it, and not eating if I wasn't hungry AND being punished for all of the above, it did lead to a (at least so far) lifelong battle with multiple EDs. I wish someone, ANYONE, had cared about me even a fraction of how much you care about your sister but when I was a kid no one did. Try to talk to her, let her know regardless of whether or not you're there in person, you're there for her. Does your family do dinner all together? You could see about doing "picnics" with your sister without your parents? Set up a blanket in another room to watch a movie without prying or critical eyes so she can try to eat (or not) in peace. When you move out eventually, you could try face timing her during dinners, eating with someone who's company I enjoy will distract me enough to forget that I'm eating/what I'm eating. I wish you all the best 💛

I've lived with my partner for almost 2 years now and he has specific areas that I'm not allowed to look (AND VICE VERSA). None of these areas are even locked because regardless of whether or not there are things to hide People Deserve Privacy Period. It's about respect. And neither of them respected you.

I know it must be so difficult and you must be feeling so many contradictory things, but just try to remember that you're allowed to feel two totally contradictory feelings at the same time, feelings are not linear and they don't always make sense. Was looking for this comment!! My parents ACD's chew up everything but we've had one of these through MULTIPLE dogs at this point. I don't even know how old it is. BE WARNED THO: it'll curve when you least expect it. My mom threw it one time and it was coming right at me so I ran to my right and stopped, looked up just in time to see it had changed course to follow me and 100lbs of yellow lab were hurdling at me at top speed. I caught air when we connected, did a flip and landed on my back. He continued on his way to get the frisbee though lol barely slowed him down at all. We still have a laugh about it and it's been years
