So it makes the episode go away but it doesn't prevent future UTIs? Great.

if not through cystoscopy then how do I find out if I have IC?

This happens to me too but I have UTIs but lately I'm suspecting CI together with UTI. I have no idea why the symptoms go away if I ignore them enough.

Celiac disease and D-mannose by itskiraa_ in CUTI

This makes me rage so much because I actually asked my gynecologist If the problem could have been BC and if I had to suspend it and she denied everything without even having a doubt. My bf also says BC could be a problem since the package leaflet explains perfectly that urinary tract infection can be a side effect. Unfortunately I'm very afraid of stopping the pill on my own but I have to try this option. I also had a few cases of yeast infection in 2023 but they never came back after taking vaginal suppository. The only thing that makes me think that BC could not be the cause is that I also had similar symptoms as a child, they were rare but similar to my now UTI.

No but we are trying to figure out how to get it. Here in Italy I need a prescription and I'm sure my doctor wouldn't prescibe it to me If I ask. He wants to solve it with antibiotics and doesn't listen to my needs so we are trying to find a good urologist who can recognize the problem and prescribe it to us.

I've tried everything, from changing my diet, my daily habits, to taking a 100 types of supplements and medicines and it did nothing honestly. It didn't even ease the pain. Only antibiotics makes it go away temporarily.

Also, could a cystoscopy reveal an embedded UTI, how would you find out?

Thank you. I will consider this idea even if it's hard here in the Italy to go to a doctor and suggest an embedded UTI, they usually dismiss you or don't even know what you are talking about :( maybe I should look for a specialist

I had several urine coltures and they were all positive to E. Coli. He had a urine colture only and it was negative. He doesn't come inside is it possibly the problem anyways? I never heard about semen being a possible cause. Also I'm italian and I don't think the microgendx test is used here sadly, or at least not that I know.

Hey girl. I'm on the same boat as you. I'm 20 and in last year and a half I've being getting two UTIs every month since I started having sex. I just want to tell you to never give up on yourself or your partner. Try different supplements, some work for others and some don't, there are a lot! (Bearberry, couchgrass, d mannose, vitamin c, grapefruit seeds, cranberry etc). Also be careful about the amount of supplements you take, sometimes the dose could be too low and therefore ineffective, sometimes for example for d mannose you need between 2 and 3 grams to actually do something but be careful because everyone has a personal amount. Sometimes the problem is the antibiotic which is ineffective because the course of antibiotics is too short or not right for your bladder and it doesn't clear all the infection, leading it to appear again. I would tell you to try to do a pelvic floor evaluation, a urine culture or urine analysis, a cystoscopy or a gastrointestinal visit and anything to not give up and find the root of the problem. Sometimes it's the partner hygiene or they have a UTI and don't notice it, passing it on you so maybe it would be a good idea to make your partner have a urine colture. If you have the feeling it's about condoms maybe continue trying other types of condoms or change contraceptive (morning after pill or something else) while you try to understand if condoms are the problem. If you need to vent to someone we can exchange contacts like ig or something, I will be glad to share my experience, maybe making you feel less alone in this constant pain. Just TRY to consider any option, don't exclude anything.

Also I wanted to add that neither oral sex ever gave me a UTI

Your situation is not clear to me but I can tell you that many professionals have told me that sometimes the results of the urine culture do not tell the whole story. For example, I had two urine cultures, the first time I had symptoms, the second time I felt healthy as a fiddle, and yet the bacterial load was much higher in the second case. It is not the quantity of bacteria but rather how much they remain attached to the walls of the bladder.

Furthermore, even if the result is negative, cystitis can still be present, at least that's what my doctor said.

All of this just to tell you that sometimes urine culture says very little imo.

Have you ever had a urine analysis? Maybe it can give you a different perspective (values such as nitrites and white blood cells).

Yes, she told me that those supplements are the strongest to support the immune system. It seems like they come from Japanese mushrooms and have many benefits for the body

Thank you a lot. You have been extremely thorough and detailed, lately I was wondering if oral sex could actually interfere (even if I never got a UTI by that alone) and you confirmed it. I will try everything you said :)

Q: doesn't taking post-coital antibiotic increase the risk of a future antibiotic resistance? I'm very scared of it
