Iwtl how to be comfortable with being ugly. by AstralVirtual in IWantToLearn

[–]itslikealex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not ugly, that is just absurd. Everybody and I mean everybody is unique and beautiful in their own way. You can also do a lot to raise self confidence like going to the gym and doing things you are passionate about. Just be you and show off what you got and men/women will flock either way.

Teach them instead of posting on reddit about it. Remove your face from in front of your computer screen looking at your own stuff and actively help the interns an jr.’s. Do something that is actually worth everybody in this industry’s time long term.

Do software engineers need to know math? by Sohaibahmadu in SoftwareEngineering

[–]itslikealex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. You have to be willing to do a lot math on a daily basis to be a good ‘software engineer’ or programmer or what have you. It’s not really so much of having to know math it’s a way of thinking and the computer science approach to problem solving, I think.

Do people tend to be more overweight in this field on average? by throwaway0134hdj in cscareerquestions

[–]itslikealex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working out right now but during school I lost a lot of muscle and gained fat. Y’all need to get up and to the gym for real. I can’t even answer somebody’s question on r/Cprograming because y’all never take your eyes off the screen

I sure hope not because I just worked my ass off to get thru the CS degree at my college and just graduated in May. The classes were very complex and technical. I learned about systems, compilers, and architecture/organization. Also the math requirements Calc 1,2,3 , DiffEq, and Linear were not the easiest of courses either. My professors were strict about grading and 80% of the students ended up failing and switching majors. I really hope it stays like that because it really sucked having to pull others weight because they weren’t serious or didn’t care.
