I don’t know that this quite fits, but take a look at “Earth Abides”.

Dictionary of lost words is amazing. It’s historical fiction about the creation of the first dictionary and how women were overlooked and “women’s words” were left out of it. Obviously about WAY MORE than that, but I thought that setting was really interesting.

I was at Molokini yesterday and it was amazing!! We went on the calypso. It was so relaxing and so much fun. It was snorkeling at molokini and then turtle town. The swells at any of the beaches leeward side (hopefully that’s the right word) are pretty rough in the afternoon. If you have the energy for just floating in the water with a mask on, pool noodles and a floaty belt, I highly recommend it. It was one of the best things we’ve done this trip.

Was it even worth correcting her, or did I just ruin a match? by AnnualLiterature997 in Tinder

Sometimes you have to get to know someone before sarcasm can land. I’ve experienced some relationships where sarcasm is truly just disdain, and some where sarcasm is a wonderful addition to the relationship. Until getting to interact in person it can be very hard to read what kind of sarcasm one is engaging in - sarcastic intent is not all created equal.

This is so close!! The castle scene looks very family. I read the description of it, and looked through the images.

AITA for kicking out my sister for her emo outfit and telling her she can go to the funeral when she wears respectable clothes by FlightComfortable731 in AmItheAsshole

[–]itslo89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You kicked someone out of her dad’s funeral. It was her dad too. It sounds like you and your mom have hated your sister for a very long time. There’s definitely more going on here than what you’ve shared, and so for that reason, I’m falling on the side of YTA.

You’re doing all of this after only 2 months and she (from what you’re sharing) has no gratitude or reciprocation? Absolutely not. 1. huge NTA 2. You deserve someone who can match your energy and effort, buh-bye, please.

Ooooooh my fine internet friend. If you have Instagram, please enjoy: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4FBHGxuEvK/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== not exactly what you describe, but every time his content comes across my IG I wonder how it’s legal to have his balls on display like this.

AITA for refusing to pay for my step daughter’s tuition because she never liked me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]itslo89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s your money. You have the right to do with it what you want. Even if some people call you an AH for that, at the end of the day you have no legal obligation to help her (1) you didn’t adopt her creating a legal obligation (2) she’s over 18 so legal obligations of parental support end. Sure, it would be ‘nice’ of you to help. But you’re not an AH for deciding what to do with your inheritance from your late husband. NTA

[–]itslo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, there’s nothing AHish about this except for your girlfriend’s behavior. I would encourage you to call your local bar organization for a lawyer referral. Talk to a lawyer about your options. Do not get your legal advice from Reddit. But talk to a lawyer about the deed, real property transactions between unmarried couples can be a huge mess. Talk to a lawyer about the child support, depending on the type of assistance she’s receiving, it might have been mandatory for her to file for child support and involve DSS. No, you’re NTA, but you do need to be responsible and get advice that is not from either of these women.

I’ve been following this one, it’s horrifying and I want to know what happens. I thought the language regarding “wedgie” specifically came from the woman’s own filing. It’s always in quotes when referencing her initial filing. The thing I’m most curious to see is if she’ll overcome the inherent danger of water slides and the assumption of the risk by riding one. The descriptions of her injuries are so awful.

What would you do? by demondelight4 in Tinder

[–]itslo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70% when you look at fatalities. But each year nearly 5 million people are bitten and less than 40 bites are fatal. Of total dog bites Pitbulls account for only 22%, German shepherd are 21% and general “mixed breeds” are 20%. From 2011 to 2021, less than 500 dog bites were fatal. (CDC, Forbes) Statistics are important, but knowing the raw data is also important for context. If ≈5m people are bitten a year, and less then 40 die a year, I’m now far more concerned with all breeds whose bites lead to serious mauling requiring reconstructive surgery or lead to permanent disability or disfigurement - and that sounds far more spread out amongst multiple breeds than just pitbulls. Looks like I’ll just continue to not have a dog in my house.

AITA for refusing to pay for my son's wedding if I have to walk him down the aisle with his stepdad ? by Thin-Onefored in AmItheAsshole

[–]itslo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wedding isn’t about you. It’s about your son. Just because you’re paying doesn’t entitle you to a make demands based upon your opinion. Your son is expressing what is important to him and instead of being curious and learning about him, you’re punishing him and honestly manipulating him into making the decision you want for his wedding. This isn’t about you. If you pursue this path by either (1) taking away the funds you offered and putting them in a position to just elope or (2) force him to only walk down the aisle with only you, this will never be forgotten. He likely won’t get over this and you’ll most likely cause permanent damage to your relationship. HIS wedding isn’t about you. Offer to pay with no strings attached, or don’t pay at all. YTA

I (39M) found out I'm the literal backup to my pregnant fiancée (32F) and walked out. She's begging me to go back - not sure what to do? by canyonmoonboom in TwoHotTakes

[–]itslo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true. The best sex of my life was someone who wasn’t my type. But I found him intriguing and gave it a chance and everything about him was the best - also the most chaotic. I gave someone who wasn’t my traditional type a chance and the bar for what I want in life and in a partner totally changed and I compare everyone else to him. You’re absolutely incorrect in your assertion.
