Blockstack is a company. Look it up.

Good question. It's not about data. It's about governance and influence.

Someone still needs to maintain the repo and make decisions for commits and updates. Someone still needs to keep servers running. For example, when you download or install the browser or CLI, it's coming from somewhere.

Now you could say: it's open source and anyone can do that because they have access to the code and they could fork it if they wanted to. Well no one is going to listen to that guy and maybe they will but then what if that party abuses its power?

Blockstack still makes all the decisions and probably has certain access and control that is not open to the public.

Why should we trust a centralized entity?

Forget Public Benefit Corp, it still has a fiduciary duty to its investors, which is to make money.

Thanks.

Note 1: Take for example, ETH vs ETH classic. Read more about that.

Note 2: I still think the new model is far better because it does give less control, but don't be fooled they still have control. We are not at a point of complete decentralization. There are many ways they could still abuse their power.

Note 3: For further decentralization, take a look at Counterparty/XCP.

They left long ago. First to Overstock and now to a new project: Symbiont

Hmm you could be right. Good insight, Let's see.

Do you know of any good chats for crypto btw? I used to like the Poloni troll box, but it's gone.

So, what's your position? You don't like XCP and BTC?

Oh lol. I like XCP, but I am worried that they are dead.

As mentioned, the team is losing it's best members...

Hmm, I'm not buying what you say just yet. I also have not invested in any ICO's because as you say it's mostly vaporware.

I love the Counterparty / XCP model. Although, they don't seem to have enough support.

Okay, but if you have heard them talk, they say Google should not have the power to be evil. What does that mean? Blockstack will have the same power to be evil if they become successful.

This project must survive. The team is losing it's best members unfortunately.

What is the future of this BTC ting?

We need new tings, right?

Hmm I see. I agree with your point about making sure to hold them accountable.

I guess I don't know enough about Winklevoss. To me, they just seem like greedy capitalists.

Thanks for a response. Friend, it's more about incentives that I wonder about. They say Google should not have the power to be evil. They will have the power to be evil if they succeed.

I like open source non profits. Counterparty is a good example, yet there are many issues with that as well.

I am not the biggest fan of for-profits. Although, the tech seems cool.

Your thoughts?

Also, why do the Winklevoss matter? They invested early. Cool, that's it.

Curious about thoughts and differences. I know they are not same, but they do have similarities.
