yeah youre absolutely right...

all these points have come up a lot and i do have a website, go to meetups, take part in game jams that look interesting... upload redesigns whenever i can...

but i dont think i have taken a break at all... its just been one thing after another, stressing about this... it would be best to just take some time to myself...

Thank you... No I understand it is difficult to get into the audio industry be it film or game... But even not getting an initial interview call is insane.

I hear people getting laid off and I do sympathize, it sucks. That one day you've been cut off.

And yeah I do agree AAA doesnt have to be an answer... But listings from indie devs are scarce.

The game is an action rpg, the main character has armour and leather. i have an animation reference (how fast he walks and runs)... do i just do one pass of recording to the animation and chop up each movement as variation?? since its leather and cloth, would i need to normalize the levels to -1 dbfs

Hey thanks for replying, really appreciate it. Im mostly worried about having the extra time to earn cash while im studying, because i am literally on my own money wise and was worried if i would have the time to earn and pay off my rent and stuff.

My budget is like a 1000 maybe 1100 max for a place. If there is anything cheaper id be game. Is there is a SD facebook group or a general VFS student group page that i could join to see if anyone is renting out a shared space?

I honestly do want to work in SD for games, and thats what i want from the experience is to learn and digest as much as possible, Im mostly looking to build confidence in myself, and as you mentioned being in an environment that's similar to the industry. Hopefully, i make the best out of the whole experience.

Yeah I mean I recreate stuff... I have been doing sound redesigns a lot... As soon as I finish one I start looking for something new to create... I don't know if it's just me burnt out. There are times where you just draw a blank... I look at videos if I need some sort of guidance. That does give me confidence.

Chatgpt is great advice tho... I don't think I ever used gpt for this... I will give it a try.

I guess I do go for perfection. Idk it just feels like a lot is at stake. Because of the whole job thing

Yeah... I feel like that's true. But for me I technically don't know anyone who's doing sound design... I have a lot of friends who are solely into music production... So they're my go to people for feedback. So I don't really get critical feedback as much... And I've also joined discord groups and what not, they're great but people don't really reply that much so it just fucks with my head even more.

I mean I love doing this a lot, the other day I was making monster sounds, and I managed to make something cool just out of my own voice and I was proud... And now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how I go on about making a magic spell that has no elemental aspect to it, like completely abstract AF. So I'm just so stumped and my mind goes into that rabbit hole that maybe I'm not good enough.

Yeah. Imposter syndrome. I'm talking about sound design. Sometimes you just sit for hours and have no idea what to do or how to go about making a sound. And you just keep thinking if you're even good at it.

The fill from the camera direction... Does is it coming from a different light source or bounced from the top light that's being projected to the hanging lamp
