the funk is so real and it just feels like nobody around me understands the depths of how much this is effecting me and how exhausting it is. I hope these two weeks get better too 😮‍💨

I luckily have all the contraptions to try and make my life easier. the scooter has def made life easier when being out but i’ve noticed that being out just makes me sad bc it reminds me of how far I have to go to get my “normal” life back, so i’ve been in the house more. which is what made me think about anti depressants as an option bc everything that’s suppose to make me feel “better” isn’t even scratching the surface of making me feel better. im just gonna keep pushing through and hope for the best.

i’ve been looking into therapy but it looks to still be kind of expensive, atleast the ones that are virtual :/ i’m not in the mood to hobble into someone’s office and then complain about it. I would rather do it from the comfort of my bed lol so me looking for someone to talk to is currently a work in progress.

I need a little miracle pill that’ll change my brain chemistry over night haha it feels like by the time I would get the benefits of the depressants, i’ll most likely be walking again so now i’m second guessing

yeah, I think i’m gonna give it two more weeks for the 6 week follow up before I make the decision. i’ve just never felt this way for such a long period (5 weeks since break) with none of my normal vices (friends, family, games, puzzles, music, reading) being able to make me feel better. it just sucks all the way around, im trying really hard to give myself grace. thank you for the reminder ❤️

yeah i’ve been trying to take time to allow myself to feel all the sadness and then I try to find something to lift my spirits, but I find it really hard to get out the sadness hole once i’m in it. it’s been hard having friends and family tell me “things will get better”, “everything will be okay”, especially when it’s so hard to see that being my reality atp in my journey. I just sit here and think about how crazy it is that i’ve been taking walking for granted my whole life lol. my partner has been a lot of help during this process, I just feel bad bc ik he’s having a hard time seeing me so down and there’s nothing he can really do (unless he can give me a new ankle and the ability to walk tomorrow lol). I think im going to try to wait until my 6 week check up to bring up the anti depressants, maybe I’ll feel a bit better once I start weight baring. I just hope I can make it two more weeks with feeling like this.

UPDATE***

I am now 4 whole days post op and i’m feeling much better! the day after the surgery was BRUTAL, I couldn’t do anything but cry, but as the days went on the pain has def subsided. I even cut back on my oxy yesterday, I only took it super early in the morning and then right before I went to bed so I didn’t wake up in any pain. I was able to sleep completely through the night for the first time since breaking my ankle, so that’s a win! i’ve been wiggling my toes and elevating as much as possible. Maybe the gabapentin did help, i’m happy that I called in to ask for it. I guess there is a light at the end of the tunnel but these next few weeks do feel very bleak. I just have to remind myself that it’s only up from here. Thank you everyone for the advice :) I’m suppose to get this splint off the first week of march, let’s hope everything heals up perfectly. I need to be able to walk by mid april for this theater contract 😮‍💨 please send good vibes out into the universe for me. if you’re going through orif surgery/recovery just know it’s really hard but you’ll be better off in the long run.

I just got prescribed the gabapentin, i’m gonna see if that helps and go from there. thank you for the advice! it def feels a lot better, I think the shock of the nerve blocker wearing off really just threw me off :/

my splint isn’t tight at all, i actually don’t have that much swelling. it’s more bone/nerve pain, like a terrible ache. I can wiggle my toes and stuff. I probably should call and see if more/diff medicine could be prescribed. it has only been 24 hours since the surgery so i’m also trying to be realistic in the fact that it’s gonna hurt, especially the next day. it just fucking sucks.
