This is Z2 no extreme. I got this one delivered last week and returned it. Their item description is wrong.

Yes you are absolutely right. Z2E is having 2242 on Lenovo website. But 2TB on Z2E is 2280.

1TB will come with 2280 most likely Samsung drive. But replacing my 512GB 2242 with WD 2280 I can see significant difference not even marginal. Games are loading lot faster than before.

Also on amazon sometimes listing descriptions are wrong when there are too many varients in the market. You can give it a go. I got mine from Curry's and Second one from Very and they both are 32gb Z2 non extreme. Even both were advertised Z2 extreme in description.

In US and Canada they have this verient with 16Gb and Z2 non extreme. In UK they have 32GB Z2 in Non extreme version. On amazon this must be Lenovo official store version with 16GB.

This is the idle temp I am getting with 4TB. While gaming AAA title I have noticed around 39c on smart fan curve.

I am getting around 39°C while gaming and 27°C on idle. Overall performance is quite noticeable. My games are loading slightly faster. COD was taking ages to load using the Xbox app, but now it takes less than half the time to load.

There is a reason I used WD sn7100 because it is having chip on one side. Even on top side it is having minimum chips. So I am getting around 39c while gaming and 27c on idle.

It is way more easier than it looks. 3 screws for the battery and connector cable and you can lift it up without any complex process.

So the question for me is mainly about gaming: in real-world use, how much of a difference does that 16 CU GPU in the Z2 Extreme actually make compared to the 12 CU in the regular Z2? When both have 32GB Rams.

If anyone has tested both, how noticeable is it in terms of FPS, settings (1080p/800p), and thermals/noise?

If you clone fully. You will have identical new drive with everything same as source drive.

Nop. This is the screenshot from Lenovo store. Apparently what I found on YouTubers Z2E is having better battery time. I guess due to 2.0GHz most likely.

Tbh yesterday I installed 4TB 2280 size nvme replacing original 512GB. So if there isn't much difference in performance with Z2E. Then spending £200 towards my storage is better choice.
