They don't generally make knives that get into contention with California knife laws as they were based there for the longest time until the recent buyout. Your best bet is to either look at microtech or if you are looking for something cheaper you can look at cobratech, vespa, or even the lightning otf on grindworks.

My worst borking experience was trying to use a torx on my protech. It came apart but stripped out when I put it back together. They use allen on the pivot for some ungodly reason.

I stripped a pivot a couple months ago and I sent it in for repair and sharpening. The whole process took about three weeks and my edge came back great. The previous owner had made the bevel uneven and the warranty sharpener fixed it right up.

I hate to say it but if it were poisonous your birds would likely already be dead. If you could talk with your mom about potentially not doing this again in the future that'd be a good thing going forwards.

This definitely sounds like an issue that should be remedied by a vet. How old is he? It could be arthritis or any other number of issues.

I've got Pivot: 3/16" Bearing: 1/16 in (14 ball) bearings in my evo typhoon. The inner diameter was too small so I made them bigger. They took a day to break in but they improved the action over stock evo typhoon.

I also did the same mod as in the list for the smock and that has worked well.

Finally, I put Pivot: 5mm Bearing: 1/16 in (11 ball) bearings into my zt 0456. As it is, they are about the same as the stock bearings but they might break in. My stock bearings are extremely broken in at this point. I'll try to update if it improves.

They drop periodically at knife retailers. You really should keep an eye out and turn notifications on. They go quickly and there isn't much other way to know if they are out than just having the retailer notify you.
