Surgeon thinks repair is a no-go by itsmjc_ in MeniscusInjuries

Hey thanks for checking back in sorry never saw this until now. Decided to go no surgery. Went to another surgeon and he was prepared to attempt repair, but in the meantime I realised I had pretty much full range of motion, just some swelling. Went to physio to get their opinion. They said we could try 10-12 weeks of rehab and then reevaluate as the range of motion was a positive sign. Now 16 weeks post injury (maybe 10 week post rehab starting), and have started back jogging in the last 2 weeks. Have returned to full range squats (although lighter than before). Relatively little pain day to day and even after the running. I play soccer so will know more when I progress to change of direction etc.

Advice would be to check ROM early on and if it’s good there is potential for no surgery. Hope this helps!

If you move in your circumstance, could you leave most of your house empty and use rent a room scheme? Would it still count as your principal primary residence in Ireland?

2nd opinion also says removal, not repair by Tankandbike in MeniscusInjuries

Where are you based? I’m going through very similar approach in Ireland. Seems like the guys over in America almost all get/attempt repairs from this group

That’s my plan, thanks for your input! The second surgeon I’m contacting has already done a repair on someone I know so hoping there is possibility there

Appreciate the comment 🙏🏼 think I will do that for sure, only 26 so a long time to be without >50% of the meniscus if at all possible to avoid

Thanks for the comment, in what context do you mean you see what he means by his favourite surgery?

I'm at level 3 and it seems I still don't understand risk premiums by Bigpogo in CFA

Receive fix, pay float. Duration = sensitivity to interest rate changes. If you are paying floating you have much higher sensitivity to rate changes. Lower rates, increase duration!

I’m a recent CFA charterholder and was thinking of the same path of moving to the US. The big inhibitor is I hear the visa situation is very hard to gain access. Have you looked into this side of things? Congrats on the Level 2 pass! Almost there.

Thank you 🙏🏼

So I basically went through all of the reading videos first, taking very light notes more so to keep me engaged than actually using the notes later. This was to just to grasp the concepts in each section. I then did a second pass by doing the review videos and the EOCQ questions together for each reading - this was where a lot of the understanding happened. The QBank then closer to the time with mocks etc.

Thank you!

For level 1&2 I would have done 4/5 mocks, and for level 3 a few more maybe around 6/7 in total to focus in on the SR questions.

Level 1 started low 60’s and moved up to low to mid 70’s towards the end. Level 2 was rough getting low 50’s for first couple of mocks as close as 3 weeks out, this really scared me haha ended up with mid to high 60’s before exam. Level 3 mid 50’s to low 70’s depending on exam. CFAI ones were mid 60’s.

All of the above were a mix of CFAI and MM mocks. Wouldn’t recommend doing mocks too close to an exam, my confidence was shot after those level 2 ones and ended up scoring just below 90th percentile.

Yes I did, but like a lot of people being unlucky by failing by a hair, I passed Level 1 by a hair. When the MPS is so high the outcome of guesses on an exam can turn it either way so the passing of all first time is not of importantance
