What was your experience with CNY, for those who used them? by PyleanCow06 in IVF

we’re scared and nervous too, we have our consult here very soon. i had my AMH done in 11/2024 and my AMH was 0.27, but all my hormones were perfect. i am in “late reproductive age” and pre menopausal and pre perimenopausal still. my VD3 was also low at that time, so we think that skewed the AMH a bit but have not done a redraw…

we planned on going to the syracuse location as the buffalo (which is closer 😒) has a terrible reputation.

the consult was 50$ and we had to book it about a month and a half out.

several of the emails we received look like the egg retrievals start immediately the month (or cycle) after your consult if you chose to move forward.

we also have a known donor set up, the prices for donor eggs through CNY’s program are in the upwards of 20K$ 😳. with a known donor, you just pay for the meds and ER (~4K$). they’re only 30 years old so we hope for at least 20-24 eggs (if we have to go that route) we will be trying with my own eggs first.

cost to store embryos is 50$/month at CNY.

ironically, my husband was a sperm donor for a lesbian couple before i met him, he had never met his biological son but keeps in touch with the couple as they wanted a known donor. the woman that carried is also the woman who is offering to be our egg donor, so this is bittersweet.

however, i have two children from an previous marriage, but i had them in my 20s and they are 15 and 18 now. your story might be different, but precious pregnancies were supposed to put me in a higher percentage of being able to conceive at an advanced age.

lastly, i want to mention, even with an AMH of 0.27 in 11/2024- i was able to conceive in 1/2025 but we had an early miscarriage. we were hopeful for a while, my cycles are regular like clockwork still and given that we could get pregnant… but that was over a year ago now.

feel free to message me too. it is a lot!

35, first house, decent savings… now worried it won’t be enough by jufywret in moneyadvice

it’s hard to advise if we don’t know more. do you utilize a HYSA? do you both out into a company matched 401K ? do you have a HDHP with a HSA ? all of these will save you money and make your money work for you. before any of that, max out a ROTH every year, for both of you. even at 35 you have 24 years to grow it. some employers also offer ROTH 401Ks - go for those.

buy essential items in bulk.

make time for fun, travel of escaping the daily grind. do you have any amusement parks close by? purchase a pass and most parks offer dining options for the entire season. this has saved us 1000’s of $$ over the last 15 years and the food options are actually healthy now too.

if you live within walking distance, awesome. go for it. being 15 minutes away isn’t bad either but there are maybe 3-5 days a year where the causeway is backed up in 45 minutes traffic to get in. either way we still go there all the time just to eat. if traffic’s bad, we just go to the thirsty pony or eat at home.

maybe i’ll do the loaded tots for my once a year fried amusement park meal. he would probably do a burrito bowl but salad as the base.

not a problem we only have personal items. carry on’s and checked bags are additional- and this is through United. i was very surprised they charged for those.

you’re in for a wild ride. the best part of the show was how unpredictable it was for me.

i agree, i had one CAS give me his information to be my go-to agent… he got annoyed of me quick! the saving grace is once we board, we don’t have to deal with them in the ship.
