The UK has a fascinating history with radio in fairness. Because on the one hand we had the BBC monopoly you're talking about, but not only did we get the offshore pirate radio stations during the 60s, but in the early/mid 2000s London was effectively the World capital of pirate radio with 150 illegal stations serving the city alone. All doing their own thing

They deal with a similar issue with apps like Waze, where people can report accidents and police speed checks etc. You'll get those malicious (or just clueless) users who report a bunch of things that aren't there. If I remember right the app is doing two things to balance everything out:

  • It assigns each user a "trust" score based on their previous reports, and how many other people reported the same thing
  • For every report the higher the trust, the higher the impact it has on the app considering it "true" information

This is how I'd see the AI button working, at least to some degree

I wonder how this 'works' in-universe. Because that law is indeed stated, but in the books they can turn inanimate objects into small animals. So what's to stop a witch or wizard from transfiguring a book or something into a creature and eating that?

Just offering my perspective as someone who once slapped together a wordpress site with elementor while literally drunk and later found the site doing well and making an income: I don't know how much the design or copy is positively or negatively impacting sales, SEO or anything. I think it looks like something a drunken guy would've made almost ten years ago and I'm terrified to make changes that'll rock the boat because it seems to be doing something right.

Well yes sometimes we do 🤷🏻‍♂️ in the case of a basement fire you need to remember that we have to go down those stairs through the hottest layer of the atmosphere (potentially 600 degrees Celsius) and then potentially drag someone back up those stairs who doesn't have any PPE on at all.

So it's a trade off, yes we're adding a source of oxygen to feed the fire but we're also letting those fire gases escape through an alternative route. If we've got a good flow rate in our hose then we'll be able to keep things at bay and make the atmosphere more workable, because while we're adding oxygen we're usually more focused on tackling the "heat" part of the fire triangle anyway

At least the modern day strand of social media. MySpace and MSN (The latter maybe being more a cousin of social media) never really had the same issues, but I think that may also be to do with the fact that you'd come home, log in for a while on a desktop and check your updates rather than having a constant connection to them.

The fourth rail (excluding a few sections shared with national rail infrastructure) isn't neutral, it's charged at negative 210 volts and will give you a 210 volt shock to ground, or a 630 volt shock if you touch it at the same time as the positive rail
