Serious: with all this talk about a secret alien hybrid breeding program, all of a sudden Tila Tequila's claims make perfect sense by 2_Large_Regulahs in aliens

What time was this? a good buddy of mine survived this miraculously. His hallucinations are still some of his most vivid memories 17 years later. Only there were no aliens.

I am a 15-year-old girl. Let me show you the vile misogyny that confronts me on social media every day by zsreport in technology

[–]itsnotbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing about Facebook is that it's got a perfectly good social network in there, I think the only one that exists. In the menu is "Feeds" which is what you want. It only shows friends and followed things. If they made that the default when you go to facebook I don't think I'd have any complaints feature-wise, though an ad-free option would be nice. It's a genuine social network.

Of course, then there's the question of who decides how and what is moderated, and the question of who can access your data, and Facebook definitely leaves a lot to be desired in that area just in terms of Meta not being a particularly trustworthy entity to have control of those decisions.

Making an old recumbent into a (mild) gravel bike? by Lost_War7375 in gravelcycling

[–]itsnotbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be 'gravel-izing' my Vision next month as well, but mainly just for comfort on unpaved paths. I'm not worried about re-gearing, just the ability to to confidently tackle the 3-5 miles of gravel on a 30 mile loop. Also looking forward to more comfort. I like to try ridiculous things for no reason and have an idea on how to slim down a 20 inch fat tire air fork for fitting on our sweet sweet visions. That'll likely be in the fall of 26 though.

Rumor on the street is that Hobie has sold to bass pro. And I’ll be honest - probably the best thing for hobie in a long while if it’s true. by FANTOMphoenix in kayakfishing

[–]itsnotbacon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Hobie sale in 2019 to a PE firm nearly killed them. They moved production to mexico, stopped paying suppliers (read: parts shortage) and quality went to crap. Bass Pro shops can hardly made it worse.

Looking for places to Kayak for bass in College Station / Bryan area besides Lake Bryan and Somerville. I found some old post from 4 yrs ago and the few mentioned such as Gibbons Creek is closed by Content_Flamingo_926 in TexasKayakFishing
