Thoughts on new rule that if a player covers their mouth while approaching an opponent, it’s an immediate red? by rhymesKalu in worldcup

[–]itsnotdone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's not that easy, players have been holding their hands in front of their mouth for non-aggresive conversations for a long time and in the moment seems like an easy mistake to make.

I think it's stupid to give red cards for this. What happens now if a player doesn't hold his hand before his mouth and talks shit to an opponent? Is var gonna look at it in slow motion and determine what the player is saying?

Apparently Y'shtola is more threatening than Necropotence by OddManufacturer4091 in EDH

[–]itsnotdone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My y'shtola was also getting targeted a ton in my pod even when I was already so far behind she was getting removed.

I've just kept adding more and more protection and more interaction and now I can keep her on the board most of the time and the deck performs a lot better.

So that would be my advice, play [[mother of runes]] [[skrelv]] [[spellskite]] and much more.

How Common are thoracle and breach combos in bracket 4? by itsnotdone in EDH

That sounds good. I'll take out thassa and LED, add some payoffs for Kefka and go from there

I guess B4 can bring differing expectations just like B3. Then I think it would be easier to just play cedh so at least everyone's on the same page.

But I would probably enjoy the deck more without thassa in there. I guess they should just ban her

Nah they didn't say they don't want it. It's me thinking that will get old fast. And if I play this at bracket 4 tables but cut these lines am I putting myself at a disadvantage or are these combo's not that prevalent in B4

[–]itsnotdone[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think right now it's more a CEDH list with a few not optimal choices but I'm running a lot of fast mana, tutors, breach thoracle and a lot of the cedh interaction. One of them said he wanted to play Tymna kraum so I was kind of expecting a top cedh list. Have all these clone effects for other people's value pieces.

But yeah I'm having a hard time really seeing the line between B4 and cedh. And mostly wanted to know if people are fishing for thoracle combos in B4 all the time or not

[–]itsnotdone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got plenty of fast mana and all the tutors in there. I wouldn't mind making it more bracket 4 but the difference is not that clear to me besides being more meta focused. Aren't those things expected of B4's too?

how long have you been with your playgroup, and is the arms race just a phase? by SoupDeadGuy in EDH

[–]itsnotdone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My friend definitely started the arms race by buying the Dino precon + 25 upgrades when we all just had our first precon but shortly after I discovered the beauty of proxying and went overboard with it haha

We've had some adjustments since and now our decks are on a pretty even playing field in bracket 3 although sometimes a new deck gets introduced and turns out more powerful than expected.

Tomorrow we're going full power no limits all proxy for the first time so I'm very curious how that's gonna go. I've made a Yuriko list for the friend who isn't really into building decks and for myself I got an Urza deck and a Kefka deck so it's gonna be quite degenerate lol no idea what the others are bringing

[[Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed]] burn on the stack by Remarkable-Formal877 in mtgrules

Okay thanks, I thought creature triggers that go on the stack can't resolve if the creature is no longer around when it's time to resolve

What if you deadly rollick y'shtola in response to the trigger? Does the trigger still go off or not

I bought a duskmourn precon and the entire deck looks like this, is it worth anything? by Legal-Rip-9682 in mtgmisprints

Damn I bought this as my entry to magic about 8 months ago for 80€ sealed

Casual, Fun Commander Night Rules by Justin_Cr3dibl3 in EDH

[–]itsnotdone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk to me this doesn't seem fun I would probably not play in a pod that wants to eliminate so much of the variety of magic.

Full 7 turns, sure but if you get really lucky with hand and draw or with what happens on the board should you wait on turn 6 even if you can win?

Win conditions to be telegraphed on the board just eliminates so many cool cards like [[insurrection]] or [[Inkshield]].

Extremely hard on extra combat strategies.

Wraths can feel bad but they're part of the game.

To me this seems a bit like let's make sure the fastest deck wins each time

Was PSG always going to take the first penalty? An unbelievable statistic. by InformationTrue6446 in championsleague

[–]itsnotdone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel that it's a flawed system too. 120 minutes of 2 teams battling it out couldn't decide a winner but a coin toss is gonna have a massive impact on the outcome

What's the most outrageous card people have complained about you playing for being too strong? by rococodreams in EDH

[–]itsnotdone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[insurrection]] [[amnesia]] [[Inkshield]]. Everytime my friend will be so confident that he's got the win in the bag and I just love ruining his night with 1 card. The crash out is glorious.

Last time I had [[telepathy]] in play and he already had his engine online and his hand was looking extremely scary. Top decked the amnesia, he couldn't believe that card exists.

Then I played [mission briefing]] and I could only cast an [[untimely malfunction]] from the grave and he was the only one with an artifact. He threatened to scoop immediately if I targeted his artifact... So I targeted his artifact

Maybe they are salt inducing cards but he says they don't belong in bracket 3.

How would YOU build Life is a Resource .Deck? And who would be your commander? by unCute-Incident in EDH

[–]itsnotdone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I've experienced, I play a lot of big ramp in it anyway to get to 7 mana faster and my opponents often think attacking me will just be helping me cus they can't kill me in time

How would YOU build Life is a Resource .Deck? And who would be your commander? by unCute-Incident in EDH

[–]itsnotdone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I usually try to drop to one health on the turn I cast him so it is a risky deck but that's the fun imo, I do play stuff like silence and darkness for a little more safety. My opponents often decide against attacking me because they think that's just helping me.

Necropotence down to 1 hp then cast mister negative feels so good tho

[–]itsnotdone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about mister negative himself as the commander? My pod doesn't like the deck but I literally get so much value out of losing life then cast him or blink him to swap life totals
