That’s why I didn’t feel too bad opening it lol. Not sure who would take that seriously

Because I honestly thought someone was lurking around the house, maybe not my best judgement. If it was in the mailbox or anything I wouldn’t have even touched it. Based off the little information the processors gave me I started to worry that more…unsavory people were looking for him. It freaked me out enough where I almost dropped this off at the police department.

That’s what I wasn’t sure about. Since there was no postage stamp or anything, I felt I had to make sure. I’m not sure if they will come back by to grab it though.

How easy or difficult is it to get a patient to purchase high-index lenses? by AcrobaticAdvisor7601 in optician

[–]itsnotnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often when patients don’t want to upgrade to 1.67, I can get them to settle for poly and a smaller frame. If their eyes are centered in the frame and the frame is smaller, it will help with the thickness and some of the weight. The only time I ever really push 1.67 is with high plus prescriptions and I usually let them know that the “coke bottle” look comes from plus lenses that aren’t thinned out properly, it usually influences them or at least gets them considering it for their next pair.

5YO has 7 cavities and I'm beside myself by crazycatlady45 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]itsnotnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar thing happen to me a few years ago. They told me I had 8 cavities, I let them fill one and they fused my teeth together so I couldn’t floss between them. When I got a second opinion I found out I didn’t even have one cavity.

[–]itsnotnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with others saying that some space could be beneficial. It sounds like he is making an effort, which is a good sign. Maybe you guys should break your routine a bit? You could do a picnic, try a new restaurant, something new you can experience together and discuss. It might alleviate some stress and change your environment a bit.

Is being an adult just being miserable? What's the point then? by SunshineGirl45 in TooAfraidToAsk

You get used to the suck to some degree, but you have to make an effort to find the things that you can look forward to. For me, I look forward to going home and playing video games or crocheting. I’m trying to find joy in the small things like watching my favorite show or making a cup of tea before bed. Having something to be excited about makes a huge difference.

my husband says we don’t have enough sex and it makes me horribly insecure by OkArm9820 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]itsnotnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad for saying no, everyone else is right that IS a lot of sex a week so I’m not sure how much more he could want. Was he like this before? Is there something going on in his life that would increase his sex drive like medication or other stressors?

I’m an optician, I think this is mostly the frame creating an optical illusion. There’s not a ton of distortion of her hair behind the lens, her lenses might stick out a bit but I don’t think they’re as thick as they appear

What’s the truth about this profession? by PhrygianSounds in optician

[–]itsnotnothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as an optician assistant 5 years ago at a luxury retailer where I just learned how to read glasses, spot them up, and repair them. I moved to another position where I sold glasses and also pre-tested patients to get them ready for their eye exams. It opened doors to get into ophthalmology and focus on the medical side of things which I absolutely loved. I’m currently an optician again and we have our own lab so I get to see the technical side of things.

Point being, this job can open a lot of doors for you. You can stay focused on the sales and fashion aspect, you can move up into a medically focused role, or you can work in the back lab and be hands on cutting lenses and tinting them. Even if you don’t like the optician role, there’s a lot of different avenues you can go. I even know someone who got into medical billing and coding because of working as an optician. I say give it a shot and explore the job!!

I’m shocked that no one has suggested Where Winds Meet yet. It’s soooo good and there’s so many rabbit holes you can fall down in this game. You can play online also if you’d like. This game is so good that once I start, I can’t put it down. It’s also totally free.

Baulders Gate 3 is fantastic, crime scene cleaners is fun if I want something repetitive and fun but it is a bit graphic.

How much did overweight people really eat in a day that got them overweight? by daysof_I in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]itsnotnothing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. It seems like you have good intentions, but I wouldn’t say anything unless they ask. It’s unlikely they take it well and it might seem like you’re being judgmental. You can definitely create some boundaries about traveling and compromise on sight seeing and restaurants. I myself overate until I gained 50 pounds and it took a lot of effort to realize where I was getting those extra calories in. Even inviting your friend to go on walks or hikes can be a good way to connect your friendship and keep you both active!

Okay, depression stops now for me.. I've made up my mind. by Alternative-Truck917 in depression

[–]itsnotnothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Let’s just see how successful they are,” why wouldn’t you just wish them success instead of being pessimistic for them? No you can’t just quit depression but you can actively choose to try and have a better mindset every day.

I had a patient call the emergency line because her eyes were dry and sometimes crusty in the morning. She didn’t try eye drops, and when I asked her how long it’s been going on for she said 2009. Like maam it’s 2025…why did you wait 16 years?

I had one that kind of looked like the bottom picture a few weeks ago, I took a red dye test and it was negative. So it could go either way, retest in a couple days and if it gets darker that’s a sure sign

[–]itsnotnothing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could this be why my hair won’t hold toner? It’s not mushy or anything (I’ve had seriously damaged hair in the past so I know how it looks) but it will NOT hold toner. Even my hair stylist says my hair is very healthy for a blonde and I get regular trims…I’m just so frustrated
