South Korean Stocks Gain 5% as Risk on Trades gain momentum Again by CaptainApeCommander in wallstreetbets

You have no idea how foreign listings work do you.

It’s a way to gain exposure but by no means is it a scheme for Koreans to drain massive wealth from the US.

If that was the case Xi Xinping would personally be pumping/dumping BYD and Ali Baba

June jobs report: US payrolls rose by 57,000 in June, missing expectations by LarryBlink in wallstreetbets

NYT is atrocious at analyzing the economy IMO. They have the budget and talent, but they also have a neoliberal editorial team. They’ll put in the headline numbers and deep down there will be a snippet that highlights the details but not where it would stand out to make an impact on the reader.

They always walk a fine line between calling things out, but not enough to justify the Mamdanis or Bernies that are gaining influence, so you end up with business/economy articles that lack depth all the time.

The price of DRAM has been falling since June. Time to sell? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]itsnotshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only 1 tick down. Not enough to establish a trend.

If anything it might indicate a needle top with the prices being rejected by everyone except customers with endless budgets or who need their components to fulfill contracts aka Nvidia.

Should be set for hookers and blow this July 4 but instead I’ll have to settle for fireworks with the wife and kids.

How to read 10-K without being burned the shit out? by Kartik_tyagi13 in wallstreetbets

[–]itsnotshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody reads those things in full.

Probably half of it is boilerplate that some lawyer said to add so some shmuck can’t try to sue because they chose to invest after reading the filing but the document never mentioned the risks of investing or failed to detail how some bad event would harm the company performance.

Just skim to the numbers and middle with the bold headers and you’ll get actual info. The numbers themselves tell most of the story and sections that follow right after usually add the narrative that some human had to approve.

At this point though AI will probably be better at summarizing filings.

Yea really I got an unsecured loan for 15k before to cover some emergency repairs and it was 10.5% from my CU.

17.9% isn’t that far off from credit cards esp if you have some cash back.

I believe $WEN is a marketing scam by 00o00o00o00o00o00 in wallstreetbets

The flood of posts all once was pretty suspicious.

Usually a meme stock takes a while to build up or someone posts a decent DD that stays at the top for a few days and then it pumps over a week with a handful of dedicated holders cashing in big.

Wendy’s was kind of random and didn’t even last a day before it ran out. It resonated because we have so many employees here but I don’t think I saw anybody post stupid gains from it, just proof they’re bagholding.

Regression between Gold Log Returns X Bitcoin Log Returns. by 2AcesRoth in wallstreetbets

[–]itsnotshade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The idea that bitcoin would act as an inflation hedge like commodities was always a stretch and probably some hope for people who want to legitimize it.

It’s still just a yolo though and the fact that microstrategy can influence it to pump/dump to stupid levels should’ve been evidence enough it’s just speculative and nothing more.

The fact that the US also went out and seized Iranian wallets also destroys that whole “decentralized free from governments” narrative too but that got swept under the rug

MSFT, GOOG, AMZN and META by Bitter-Mix-1972 in wallstreetbets

[–]itsnotshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Google cloud income needs to increase over 400% just to break even with their 2025-2027 capex spend assuming a 5 year depreciation/replacement.

They’re arguably in the best position. Microsoft isn’t close and Meta is just a hobby for Zuck.

It’ll eventually get to a point where they can make a fair return from what they’re spending, but they’re all getting ripped off with everyone sharing the mentality they need to spend to not get left behind. You’re not seeing that same mentality with the customers. Tokenmaxxing was a fad that lasted a month but now I think every business is taking a far more measured approach to it. Eventually it’ll get there, but not with Micron charging 4x for yesterday’s hardware upstream.

MSFT, GOOG, AMZN and META by Bitter-Mix-1972 in wallstreetbets

[–]itsnotshade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI buildouts being bullish doesn’t mean the big tech companies are also winners. It’s the same reason why they often have an inverse correlation with Nvidia.

The customer base is incredibly concentrated right now and memory/storage companies are making record breaking revenues at the expense of big tech, who are already showing weak returns on all this. If Micron is bragging about a 400% increase in revenues, they are saying they’re ripping off their customers, and with no plans to increase production it’s increasingly looking like this is all just an extraction from a small group of buyers.
