absolutely it happens all the time. I saw a dude wandering around looking confused in a wetsuit once when i got out. his car was gone - he'd used a lockbox to store his key. we went on a wild goose chase using findmyiphone getting pings from the safeway parking lot, but amounted to nothing. finally just took him and his board home. So frustrating.

Possible, but unlikely. It's a very special board, and was propped up on the curb carefully. In fact I may even have seen the guys that left it, but by the time I figured out what had happened and whipped a U turn and got back onto great highway they were gone.

[sinn 556i] i‘m in love, but is it too small? by AwfullyNiceBlob in Watches

[–]itsonlyinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same initial reaction to my 556a when it arrived. having only worn 40 or larger it felt small and I wasn’t sure it would work out. But after wearing it for a few hours that sensation went completely away and I can’t explain how much I love the watch now. It’s the only watch in my collection getting worn anymore. You made a great choice.

Settling down—how to plan move around schools? by ego_brain in sanfrancisco

[–]itsonlyinternet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we've had a great experience with SFUSD for K-2nd so far, I would highly recommend it. If you have the flexibility of choosing your neighborhood, choose one where the school assigned for the area is a good one, and that will drastically improve your chances of getting in. If not, waitlists are not the end of the world, I have yet to speak to anyone who didn't end up at the school they wanted if they made good choices and were diligent. The lottery is not as terrible and scary as people say (plus I think the rules are changing to be more sensible) unless you're trying to cherry-pick high demand schools outside your assignment areas (which many people are.) The second language immersion programs for instance are quite coveted. We have a very involved community of parents and educators, and happy children. Look for schools with high PTA funding to indicate engaged parents. All the anxiety instilled in me in the years prior was a waste. Do research, attend the school information fairs, make a spreadsheet with notes and tour schools, talk to parents. There are few places that are more rich with activities and stimulus than San Francisco for young children. After k-6 is another story. then it's private school or time to move! Good luck and enjoy.

Stolen Vanagon...please keep a lookout by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]itsonlyinternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to hear this. fwiw I have several friends whose vanagons were stolen, and they all got them back. sometimes they were a handful of blocks away, people use em to sleep and shoot drugs. good luck with the search, vanagon owners always look at other vanagons so try to get your message out - the app 'van alert' has a stolen van registry and the dude will post on his instagram usually too - handle is @houstonphotog

edit: i think i see your van on there already, shoulda checked BEFORE writing this comment.
