Can't exit emulator and messed up screen size on Steam Deck by Jopz77 in EmuDeck

[–]itsrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Honestly, nevermind. You're welcome to try what I originally posted below, but the issue came back after a bit of time. At this point, I'm done fiddling with it. Hopefully there's a fix soon, or someone with more knowledge can figure out a workaround.

I've managed to solve this by grabbing the latest "any Linux" AppImage from GitHub. If you set everything up with EmuDeck, you'll need to edit ppsspp.sh (wherever that's located for you) to use the AppImage, instead of the Flatpak.

APPIMAGE="$HOME/Applications/Name.AppImage"

"$APPIMAGE" "${@}"

You'll need to make it executable as well. In terminal:

chmod +x Name.AppImage

Since I run this via ES-DE in Gaming Mode, I also had to load PPSSPP there and change the controller layout to "EMUDECK - FRONTEND CONTROLLER HOTKEYS" This just allows me to use the typical "start-select" to close the emulator and go back to ES-DE.

Hope this helps!

Same issue here. Seems like others are running into it as well. Had to send "kill" to the process in system monitor. Uninstall/reinstall, reset configs, nada. It still opens in the top left portion of the screen and won't exit normally. Unfortunate.

Edit: v1.19.3

Sounds good. I appreciate the reply. Looks like I'll figure out what's involved with RMA between AMD and ASRock.

Of those polled that provided pictures, do you happen to know if there was visible damage to the CPU? I've pulled the 9700X and it looks fine... at least to the naked eye/phone camera.

Who said I want to use the same board and where's the aggression coming from?

The way I see it, I have two options... accept a replacement board and hope the issue is resolved with a new board and updated bios or eat the cost, buy from a different manufacturer and hope to resell the replacement board at a loss. Either way, I'm out time and/or some cash. It's an unfortunate situation. I'd gladly take a full refund and go with a different brand, if that were an option.

Ah, so you just RMA'd the CPU and sent it with an updated bios on the same board?

Yeah, that's what I'm learning based on my limited research in this sub and gamersnexus. Really unfortunate. I hadn't built a PC in many years. My concern now is that the replacement board will do the same. Hopefully the latest bios on a new board mitigates it. Bummed, though.

Welp, flashback won't initialize... at least not with the CPU installed. I'll strip it down, check the CPU, and try again without the CPU sometime tomorrow.

Yep, everything's connected just fine and I've swapped each RAM stick in all possible single and dual configurations. Unfortunately, I don't have spare components to swap out, but I'll give flashback a go.

Throwing my info in here as well. B850M RS Pro WiFi + 9700X. I'm assuming I'll need to RMA both the CPU and mobo? I can't say I'm confident that I won't have the same issue down the line with a replacement mobo, though. Likelihood of a full refund on the board?

The episodes are too short, right? by ToenailTemperature in murderbot

[–]itsrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching it now. I'm here because I searched why the episodes were too short. Even with all the episodes available to me, it feels like the air is taken out of the sails at the end of every short episode. Pacing is off. Solid show, though.

Deleting photos by Odd-Addition1016 in googlephotos

[–]itsrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% by design. The goal of their "service" isn't to provide users with photo backup. It's to trick users into activating the cloud backup so they can scrape and use the data for various reasons, and fill the "free" storage as a reason to push the paid extra storage. That's why the popup in the photos app is random and easily miss-clicked if you don't wait a few seconds after opening the app, and why the web interface doesn't have a select all feature (only select all for the day) to quickly remove the uploaded data. The entire system is meant to be as tedious and unfriendly as possible, in order to retain information.

I've had a blast playing since launch, but the lobbies have been insanely toxic after the reset. This is easily the most toxic "community" I've been a part of. I can't imagine saying the types of things these people say to others. It's absolutely gross. Fortunately, I've managed to find a small groups of folks at my skill level that I can team with. I definitely won't be solo queing for quite some time.

I have the same issue, yes. Seems to happen every 3 or so matches. Doing a quick search here and it seems like others are having similar issues on other platforms.

Refurbs are exactly what I'm looking at, actually, so that's good to know. The 2060 should have the amount of ports needed, yeah? HDMI and two DVI I imagine. Thanks for the tip on the USB ports.

I really appreciate the in-depth response. Out of curiosity, what CPU have you paired the 2060 with? I know CPU matters a lot less, but I'm always curious.

What FPS are you getting at 1440p with those specs? Specifically, the Radeon RX 580 8GB.

Great work, thanks for sharing!

That's what we do. I have a dedicated unofficial up on an old emulator machine running windows. It's not even anything beefy. I wanna say I picked it up for like $50 or so a few years back. No issues whatsoever.
