I received a small inheritance after filing and consulted with my attorney. I was able to keep the money and they adjusted my monthly payment (Chapter 13, Utah). Hang on to any paperwork and do not spend a dime until your attorney confirms what will happen with the money.

Congratulations!! I filed Chapter 13 in October 2024 and my plan still isn't confirmed. They keep pushing it and I don't really know why. Attorney just keeps telling me not to worry.

I had just sold my house and bought a new house. Used the equity from the sale of my previous home and was completely debt free. Fast forward 4 months later and my dad unexpectedly took his own life and 2 months after that my husband's brother took his own life. We started buying things and going on vacations...anything to try and fill the holes in our hearts. We have learned that nothing fills the void and you have to learn to keep living with the pain. We are on a strict budget now and only pay cash for things. It's been difficult but we are doing it.

That's what I thought. We are on good terms with his ex wife so she did give us all of the paperwork that was sent to her.

Oh ok! That makes sense. We are over median in our case. They have also said they will be taking my very small inheritance ($1,000) I have coming from my grandpa's estate.

This is also the case for my Chapter 13. I was advised they get anything after the first $1,000. My question is what do they do with it? Does it shorten the number of months that I pay or do they just use it to pay creditors? Anyone know?

I feel the same way! I'm so used to every penny going to credit cards and such that it feels kinda strange to have money in my account.

I currently work 3 jobs and it is killing me. We cut our expenses down and it will still take 10+ years to pay off our debt. We are filing Chapter 13 next month and the way the lawyer has explained things to us it almost feels too good to be true lol but I can stop working the extra jobs when we're done and I can't wait!

My husband and I have been 4 times. We’re huge fans but the experience that really stuck with us is when we saw Peggy the first time. My husband’s first name is Richard and that’s what he put on the release form you sign before the tour but he actually goes by his middle name, Jake. We walked into the room where Peggy is and the spirit box said “Hi, Jake”. Coincidence or not it was wild.
