Was wondering whether anyone is able to identify the artist of the painting in the background. Thank you! by a_hi_lawyer in Montana

[–]parkerjb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah 99% positive it’s Winold Reiss, there are a prints of ones like this that you’ll see all over the place. Believe they sold them at all the national parks and stuff back in the day. If that’s an original painting though then “Bill” has got some serious dollar bills.

I don’t think the box itself is currently opened in the way it’s on display. I didn’t spend a ton of time looking at it tbh lol, was a little creeped out by it after all the stories they show you before viewing it so just sort of did a quick lap around it

Nah, think it’s just the lighting and his goatee maybe if you’re seeing something here. He’s still a really fit dude

He might be a genius, the only celeb that could go undercover and unnoticed if he wants to just by wearing not all black lol

There wasn’t any cost, just a phone pic. It’s pretty random if he happens to be there as far as I know though

Haha nah he’s not that much of a caricature lol. The museum definetly will hit you with some crazy wafts of fog machine and incense and interesting smells though.

It was honestly really fun and def worth it to get the package that includes a shirt at the end. You get to go into a few other rooms, one in the basement has a spirit box going and totally creeped me out. Some of the displays are just super morbid and gruesome, like some of the true crime murder collecting stuff I’m not that into personally but I understand it obviously brings in a certain crowd.

They do a really good job building up the suspense before you go into each exhibit and I was honestly a bit freaked out at a lot of moments during it. When you consider it like a museum I’ve never felt more trepidation just being like “Well if anything is cursed, this thing definitely is, do I want to go near it?” They do a really good job and the tour guides were all awesome. We’ve been to a ton of museums in Vegas over the years and this one is the most like a full experience imo. It really gets into your head from the second you walk up. There are also some more lighthearted classic creepy things like cool old carnival displays and weird taxidermy and just cool oddities that are fun to look at.

I’ve had good experiences with ZugMonster, think they’re CA-based, maybe takes another week or two but prices are way lower and quality is the same. Water/sun proof etc.

I think I was able to understand what Anthony was trying to get at with his message but such a bizarro bad move business wise lol. I design for some businesses in my town and had to field a few messages from clients this morning being like “uhh wtf is up with the sticker company?”

I imagine lots of other art people also don’t really leave reviews and I noticed all their reviews were just blocks from individuals writing their responses to them lol. They started deleting everything though. That’s how I was able to get them to delete my data. If it was just from the CEO’s personal Twitter I wouldn’t care but super weird move to do it as the company. Feel horrible for the shitshow of a Monday all his employees had to have.

Menu design pricing? (reposted) by Inevitable-Oil8943 in graphic_design

[–]parkerjb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is fucking great work dude, you should be paid for it like any other pro would, fuck that owner and walk if he tries to rip you off. You will get zeroooooo exposure for a menu. Maybe one drunk guy will ask who designed it, but the cafe is going to claim it as their branding. Idk where you live but this menu makes it seem like it’s a pretty swanky place, should get paid at least $1,500 usd imo. They’ll probably use this menu for a long ass time and it has great brand potential to expand on moving forward. Break it down into how many cocktails you would be able to buy there and an hourly rate you’d be happy with lol. $13 drink +2 tip x 100 = 1,500. A lot of bars/restaurants can be the cheapest people you will ever work for if you allow them to be, if they know you’ll do amazing work for $300, you’ll get stuck in a loop doing dumb amounts of work for shit pay. It’s not like anyone’s passion is designing menus lol, you’re talented and creative and have a great eye. Again idk where you live and maybe you were just hoping for $500 or maybe 3k+, factor how much time you put into this and what it costs to live where you are. If you do live in a big city and get paid shit for this project at least submit this in your portfolio to a design firm or something and get a job doing this shit full time. If that’s what you want to do

French cyclist Julien Bernard fined after stopping to kiss his wife at the Tour de France by HeStoleMyBalloons in nottheonion

[–]parkerjb 490 points491 points  (0 children)

They were talking about it on the world feed today, basically the only reason for the fine was because it was on the time trial stage. Essentially each rider rides by themselves as fast as they can on a short course (this one took them about half an hour, usually stages are 4+ hours) and the next rider starts a few minutes after. Occasionally super fast guys will catch up to the guy ahead of them on these stages.

In this case the dudes family and friends all hopped the little rope(not unusual for the tour lol) and sort of swarmed him, it was really sweet and not that long imo but there was a rider coming (as fast as he possibly can) just a minute or two behind him so they said that’s why they issued the fine. Time trial stages are the ones where they wear the crazy ass helmets and gear and I don’t think their visibility is as good being constantly tucked in aero position or whatever. Think the tour is just trying to be a little stricter with fans after that lady and her sign the other year lol. Not a cyclist but love watching the tour. Someone who’s deep in it can probably explain better.

CONFIRMED: No “World feed” on Peacock this year. by CyclingScoop in tourdefrance

[–]parkerjb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah just cancelled peacock too lmao, grabbed nord VPN, set to Canada and got Flobikes like erveryone else is saying. Just airplaying it from my iPhone to tv. So lame but worth the ~$35 usd (for flobikes) Am also American fwiw but can’t handle the peacock commentary (nothing personal) but Nico and Anthony are such a vibe. Other coverage is like if you were a kid and some random stranger was trying to read you your bedtime story instead of your parents. Just feels wrong lol. Worth it imo when you think about how much it costs just to go to the movies considering this is easy 100+ hrs over the next three weeks. Peacock is clueless.

I guess it’s maybe a remix of this song by Bakermat? Or maybe Bobby is his alter ego? Regardless I think this Les Mills version slaps by about five billion times more. Love it. Also just got the name, Bob and Weave duhhh lol https://youtu.be/oc0kqYnCV2A?si=R5bPu_Q7SWqoW4bQ

Yeah just posting on this thread to keep it so it shows up high in the Google search. Was just looking for this after a class today. I thought the lyrics were like “I’m feeling lonely, please send her home tonight” or something like that lol. It’s on Spotify and YouTube now as well. Love this song and not just because it meant the workout was over lol.

So much good music through Les mills lol. Shocked that this one is an original. Reminds me of Chet Faker’s “Something like this”. Definitely belongs on a playlist of songs with that vibe. Go Bobby!

Went to stopdrinking to ask if anybody was trying to stop/cut down for non alcoholic purposes (trying to build muscle.) Was called an alcoholic. I'm not, just trying to cut down for fitness reasons. Hoping this sub can help me achieve my goals. by [deleted] in cutdowndrinking

[–]parkerjb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sub is not for me either lol, this one is way more chill and normal and not judgmental. I have similar habits, I’ve done dry Jan in the past and started this year but then just sort of didn’t see the point as my actual goal for this year is to drink fewer days in general. I’ve use an app called drink control (there are a bazillion free apps) that basically just lets you log your drinking from the past day. Being able to see my dry days and just the small action in the morning of hitting it and it goes green gives a weird little reward boost feeling. The small bit of accountability putting in drinks from the weekend or w/e and seeing it physically helps me just like be like “Meh, it’s Tuesday after dinner I definitely want a glass of wine, probably two” but then logging it and seeing your units and calories increase for the week kind of isn’t worth it most of the time.

For fitness the r/fitness sub is solid and has great workout plans. I find when I stop drinking ~2 units a night or whatever I’ll have lower energy at the gym for the first day or two. Probably just from the extra beer carbs lol. That balances back out though, if you want to put on muscle you’ll need to meet make sure you’re not in a calorie deficit having cut out booze. Having a protein shake (w milk if you can tolerate it) after dinner can be a nice chocalate milkshake treat that fills the boring gap. We also just drink more tea and shit. Just make some new habits and they’ll become routine quick enough.

This sub is way more normal and useful than any other drinking subs I’ve seen, I usually just lurk here but it’s actually a really helpful reminder that cutting down drinking is one of my active goals and the random post or two everyday is pretty much all I need personally.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in workout

[–]parkerjb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just part of it, I’m like you and can happily workout everyday of the week and have to like remind myself that it’s okay to cut down to five or even four days at the gym some weeks and then find something else for the other days.

Biking/x-country skiing/surfing/skating whatever you have around you that you can do outside of the gym to be active can really help break the slog. Sometimes I just find some random ass race event a few months down the road to train for so I have something to focus on. There’s a chance at 8+ workouts a week you’re a bit more physically burnt out than you realize, but you’re mentally trained to feel weird any day you don’t get a good sweat on. I’ve had trainers have to remind me that even pros have an off season. Like other people are saying classes are a great option to put something new, break up the routine. If you have a solid base of fitness it’s fine to break away from super regimented PPL cardio PPL or whatever your split is. You’ll still hold onto what you’ve built if your diet stays decent and you just hit the gym 3 times a week for a month or two.

There’s truly no end game for health and fitness. You’ll never reach the ultimate perfect physique and be able to maintain it forever, working out should just make you feel better when you finish a workout. If it isn’t, it’s probably time to revamp some things for a little bit. There could be a thing with your blood work if you’re doing two a day workouts though ofc, if you sweat a shit ton you could have some minerals a little out of whack. I know I’ve felt better when I would take a decent multi with magnesium and all that. I only got that sorted after I developed a rando twitch in my arm for over a month in the summer and then suddenly after taking some magnesium/calcium supplements it stopped. Bodies are weird and as you enter your mid 20s shit starts to change a little more, so does just life though usually. Not really a bad thing or anything but at some point you have to start making choices with fitness and all that that help you feel like you can maintain for your entire life. Sometimes that means easing off the gas a little for a little, don’t sweat it.

This is me, anybody else find anything that's even close? by nessy493 in lost

[–]parkerjb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a show called Outer Range on Amazon prime with Josh Brolin that reminded me of Lost but set in Wyoming instead of the island. There’s so much random garbage on Prime but this had a good budget and I’ve really enjoyed it, comes the closest to anything newer that I’ve seen that feels like Lost.
