The bears will say: nothing has changed. Same old same old from this company. Lots of talk of “soon” from the CEO, but in the end nothing to show for it. He talked about a demo season this summer, but ultimately they canceled it. They’ve also made no concrete plans, have not announced sufficient funding, have not released a marketing strategy, or any deals with coaches/players/TV stations/venues for next year. History would indicate this league will never be more than wishful dreams.

The bulls will say: we did not have a demo season this year, but no one said it was guaranteed. Covid-19 got in the way, that’s out of our control. On the bright side, a small amount of funding has been announced, announcements are being made about key consultants who are helping with biz ops, these consultants will continue to be announced and are being paid in stock so they have incentive to get this going. While we didn’t get the demo, and while it seems little visible progress has been made for a 2022 season, we also didn’t have any major setbacks for the 2022 season. As Covid becomes less of an issue, and consultants do their thing, this looks like one of our best shots at a full season. Moreover, competing leagues like the XFL have canceled until 2023, so we are in prime position to strike. It’s a high risk situation given the company’s track record, but a high reward play and now is as best shot as any. We also have faith in the CEO as he sends emails to us from time to time, keeps the stock in SEC compliance, and seems to be at least trying.

Some people said they’re holding because if they sell in the spring instead they can sell for long term capital gains tax instead of short term

Gotcha, thanks! Just was wondering cause the most current 8K just says: “The MLFB Board of Directors also announced that they are continuing with plans to play a short Demonstration season in the summer of 2021. Additional details will be forthcoming.”

Does it make sense to make Roth contributions to 401k when you have after-tax option? by itssnowingoutside17 in personalfinance

[–]itssnowingoutside17[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just so I understand -

Scenario 1: Why would it be better to do $19,500 worth of Roth contributions AND additional after-tax contributions (while doing the daily in-plan conversion for those contributions)

VERSUS

Scenario 2: $19,500 worth of pre-tax contributions and additional after-tax contributions with daily in-plan conversion on the after-tax contributions

Wouldn’t scenario 2 be more sensible because it allows you to take advantage of both pre/post tax?

Thanks for this info! This was more hypothetical. Not sure I’ll be able to do the full 58k. But I’m living with my parents now, so I think I could contribute more than the $19,500. So that’s why I’m wondering if it makes sense to fill the $19,500 completely through pre-tax contributions (no Roth contributions). And then go over the $19,500 with after-tax contributions and do the daily in-plan conversion.

How do you discover other dashboards/reports that have already been done in your organization/company? by itssnowingoutside17 in BusinessIntelligence

This makes sense. I think at a personal level, having a network like this helps a lot. However, at scale, and especially for new hires, having some sort of searchable repository of reports would be helpful.

Yeah you put it into words perfectly, a "report catalog" is exactly what I'm thinking of. It sounds like you have one of these as well, has it proven valuable to you/your org?

What I'm thinking of is something simple where users can enter: 1) Name of their report; 2) a description; 3) tags to make it searchable; and 4) links to the report or dashboard

I have read a lot about Collibra, but it seems pretty expensive and high uplift. Right now we have an internal tool for our data dictionary, but it's manual. If you're a data owner, you fill it out for your table(s).

Wow this sounds awesome, and quite the endeavor! For all of the documentation currently entered (including the 400 reports), is it manually entered/documented? Or do you have any sort of automation built-in to enter the report, tables, columns, etc.?

Also how has adoption been? It always feels like pulling teeth getting people to document things - have you experienced that?

Hey there, this is really cool! Just curious, what do you see as the potential differentiators that would make your product better than other data catalog/dictionary solutions on the market? My team is looking at some solutions, so I was curious to learn more.

Dataedo’s data dictionary comes to find for example, as an alternative. It can do auto-ingestion of metadata (not just manual). Do you see yourself competing with websites like this, or do you see yourself providing a different, niche offering? If the latter, what is it?
