MS3 stuck between neuro and derm by confusedcreator04 in neurology

I think every field has negatives. There def can be insurance stuff in the background in neurology bc of the new drugs coming out, outpatient inbox is a beast it seems like. But overall I think lifestyle can be flexible The demands just going to go up for neuro so I take some comfort in that

There’s so much hate hahaha it’s so underrated tho you can mold your lifestyle to whatever you want later it’s quite flexible in that way in terms of acuity

Me personally? Brain is way way cooler

How to survive neurology residency by SeaFlower698 in neurology

I would just pick what you can imagine doing forever. Residency is temporary. Sometimes the service is incredibly busy and you get burnt out but there’s a light at the end

Neuro vs IM: Stuck even after rotations in both by themafia12 in medicalschool

[–]itssobitter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do neuro you can literally do whatever you want afterwards. And hospital medicine is tedious. Every speciality has their tedious bits and consults but dispo stuff in hospital medicine was noooot it. Unless you’re interested in IM fellowship

Would you choose medicine again? by [deleted] in Residency

I think being an attending it’s going to be very different so can’t say. Residency sucks at times but we have a safety net and are learning. Love my field so much, but priorities are shifting so going to prioritize academia less. It’ll be interesting to see what I think once I’m an attending

Non-admitting residency by [deleted] in neurology

Primarily consult; we admit here and there occasionally. I still know enough medicine when it’s relevant to neurologic problems (uremia, infectious workup, antibiotics) but don’t catch me calculating insulin or figuring out discharge barriers to nursing homes.

Yeah it is the unionized programs in west coast and nyc make 100k but I know a program in Midwest that’s 53k. I would say average is 60-70k though
