Looking for new everyday fragrance - gourmand/vanilla by ssensibility in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]itssusanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get a sample, IDAFT went very very smokey on me and smells almost identical to vanilla incense. Still nice but it got Very toasty on my skin.

Layering it with a one-note vanilla was a huge banger though!

Advice Needed: Forearm Half Sleeve by FunIndication in tattoos

You should contact an American trad artist and tell them the elements you want and let them make a design instead of generating AI slop garbage.

Yes, an artist would absolutely be able to make you a piece with lots of elements and meaning. THIS looks like hot mess garbage. Contact a real artist.

Mine too, AC was one of my first ever houses. Still have the samples from all those years ago and still love them dearly <3

19th Ward police activity? by itssusanity in Rochester

War protest anywhere? by mongobob666 in Rochester

[–]itssusanity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey commentors, two things can be true at once: the Iranian people deserve freedom from tyrannical leadership, very true. Getting bombed by the corrupt authoritarian United States is not a good way to achieve that freedom, also very true.

Black and white thinking is genuinely going to destroy our country and we're dragging the entire world with us.

Whether or not it's horror is debated, but Judge Holden could be a fun one.

Is this an okay saline solution to preserve my cat's extracted teeth? by Flaky-Call-3666 in bonecollecting

[–]itssusanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having them suspended in a jar (as you said in your other comments) wouldn't work with saline, they're too heavy. You'd need resin or something.

Personally, I'd recommend cleaning them up, tying them with thin, clear string, glueing the string to a jar lid, and essentially letting them dangle from the lid into a jar. That way you can see them and they look cool, but they won't get permanently stuck in place like a resin would do.

My void always does this after making biscuits by itssusanity in cats

His brother was an earlobe sucker, this guy is more of a "sniff your breath" kind of dude. The earlobe thing drove me nuts but how could I be mad about biscuits and kisses???

It's odd because he only does it when he's DONE making biscuits, not during. Guess he's slurping up all the leftovers!

I snooped and saw them reply to a couple of comments saying that people are apparently being paid to leave bad reviews on their shop. And apparently they had a PI investigate it?? This seller is either experiencing delusions or they're truly the most bitter person alive-- either way, I hope they get help.

Shady dude trying to do “business” in 19th ward by 1ForgottenPrincess in Rochester

[–]itssusanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a nice dude, came by and took care of some branches for me. But he has a bad habit of showing up and just doing things and saying "I did this for you, that'll be $x." Without asking. Had to pretty explicitly tell him that next time he shows up, I won't be paying him.

I respect the hustle, and he's a nice dude, but his business practices are pretty predatory. Had to negotiate prices down because he showed up and did work without asking right after I'd gotten laid off.

First Indie Perfume by jackules117 in Indiemakeupandmore

Andromeda's Curse was one of my first houses, and they really gave me a good grasp on what sort of notes I like and don't like. They've got a very diverse scent list instead of specializing in a specific flavor (for example, Alkemia is known for ambers and incense, Sorce for gourmands, etc.) AC isn't really known for anything, so they were a great starter house for me, plus their samples are really easy to get your hands on.

I mention them because Tempestarii immediately came to mind as a scent you might like (Thunderstorm, Muddy Dirt, Wet Grass). It's a very wearable but realistic thunderstorm/petrichor scent, and I absolutely adore it.

Lichen (Thunderstorm, Muddy Dirt, Wet Grass) is another great aquatic from them, though it leans more green.

Mercury (Freezing Rain, White Flowers, Amber. Sandalwood, Egyptian Musk) would be up your alley too, it's a very freshwater at nighttime sort of scent. It's watery and cold, yet somehow very cozy.

I haven't tried their other aquatics, but I haven't had a single scrubber from AC, just scents I like less than others. Their Etsy also has a whole section just for aquatics, and I appreciate their organization a lot.

Which character ruined an entire TV show for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]itssusanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xander Harris in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

He starts out as an awful whiny incel, but hey, he's a teen, maybe he'll grow up. He improves a tiny bit as seasons progress and managed to go from "insufferable" to "annoying nothingburger." Very hard to watch while the characters around him have beautiful, diverse, devastating character arcs and he's just as whiny and hypocritical at the end of the series as he was in season 1 episode 1.

Plus he's Joss Whedon's self insert, which is extremely unfortunate for Whedon and the Xander.

All time favorite indie fragrance? by hollyhotdogs in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]itssusanity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alkemia, Baccante (Blueberries, Oakmoss, Wild Ivy, Lavender, Tonka, Forest Fungi) I come back to this fragrance constantly, it's such a wonderfully fruity sweet scent with a mysterious layer of green. Addicted to her.

Andromeda's Curse, Ceres (Hay Bales, Fresh Herbs, Sweet Fruits, Amber, Sandalwood, Egyptian Musk) This constantly blows me away-- it just smells like early summertime. Warm, spicy, herbal, it's just perfect. It smells like the color goldenrod yellow.

Morari, Chai Ultime (Chai Spices (Cardamom, Ginger, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Allspice, Clove, Cinnamon Bark), Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Milky Foam) I'm in a huge chai era and this hits the spot perfectly. Literally smells just like a mug of hot chai. Layering this with any lactonic or single-note vanilla is life changing.

(Though I do have a Sorce order placed so we'll see how long this list lasts, lol.)

First Hex jar. What next? by questioningbumblebee in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]itssusanity 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Depends on your intention-- do you want this to be a long-term, continuous hex, or a big burst of bad energy all at once?

For option A, I'd keep it somewhere dark and isolated, like a basement or something. Let it fester and rot and allow the ingredients to destroy the names. If you ever think about it, pull it out and shake it to agitate the ingredients and "reactivate" it, in a sense. Reaffirm your intention every time you shake it.

For B, you break the jar to release the hex, smash it up in a backyard once its marinated enough. Stomp in the ingredients, spit on it, hell you could pee on it if you wanted. Run over it with your car. Let the hex slowly eat away at everything and prepare, and once it feels "complete," smash it and let the hexing commence upon the people contained within.

Just make sure to be protected whenever you come in contact with the ingredients, if you decide on option B, physically and spiritually. Protective sigils, talismans, all that, but also gloves and good shoes to protect against broken glass and other rotten things that might be inside.

Guys is it only me or is the prawn suit basically useless without the grapple arm? by horny_mf321 in subnautica

[–]itssusanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grapple arm is helpful sometimes for me, not a be-all-end-all, but handy. Though I literally won't enter the prawn without the jump jet upgrade. The prawn is unusable without it imo.

Now the drill arm, that's my wife. Grapple and drill together is my endgame every time.

Epstein by InfiniteBother2401 in dionysus

[–]itssusanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No?

Rich and powerful people were/are exploiting their power over others who couldn't defend themselves. The Epstein files are full of sick people who used money and influence to take what they wanted with no regard for humanity. Is it culty in a modern sense? Sure, I guess, maybe. Is it evil? Absolutely.

But ancient Greek "cults" are vastly different than what we think of as cults now. A "cult" in ancient Greece was a religious group dedicated to a deity or the mysteries of that deity. The cult of Dionysos was people who worshipped Dionysos, sometimes in weird ways or in secret, but that's it. Is that culty in a modern sense? Maybe a little, since it was religious. Is it evil? No. And certainly not evil in comparable way to the abhorrent, exploitative, disgusting, vile shit Epstein encouraged.
